JACKSON,MS - The second annual Preseason Prospect ID was a huge success, with over 50 players from around the state showcasing their skills. Although the weather was somewhat chilly, we could not have asked for a better day in January. Yesterday we looked at the performances of the upperclassme, which can be found HERE

Today we take a quick look at a few underclassmen that had notable performances.

2021 SS/RHP  Kelly Crumpton (Jackson Prep) is already commited to the University of Mississippi and had one of the best overall performances of any player in attendance.  The right-handed hitter drove the ball from the middle to the pull side with authority leaving the yard on several occasions while posting an event high 99 mph exit velocity. Handles the ball really well at shortstop, with a quick exchange and easy arm swing to make accurate throws with a top velocity across the diamond of 84 mph. Also rana 6.95 60-yard dash.

2021 C Parker Ryan (Jackson Academy) is an versitle and athletic, fast-twitch player that started the day showing off a solid level of athleticism posting a 6.7 60-yard dash. Ryan also displayed proportional strength for his size and made hard contact to the pull side during batting practice and an exit velocity of 86 mph.

2021 SS/RHP Nikolas Mazza (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) continues to impress everytime we see him and will sure garner some attention from recruiters moving forward. The right-handed hitter posted a top exit velocity of 84 mph, threw 87 across the diamond, then hopped on the mound and was 82-85, touching 88 mph also showing feel to command multiple pitches.

2021 C Jackson Owen  (Starkville HS) has an already strong frame at 6-foot, 208-pounds. The right-handed hitter has an aggressive hack with quality rhythm and loose hands. He hammered the ball around the yard and posted the top exit velocity of the day at 87 mph.

2021 RHP Conner Wilson (Parklane Academy) is going to be one to follow. The right-hander has a quick arm with an athletic delivery, working from a high slot that creates tilt on his fastball at 80-83 mph and touched 84 mph. The curveball flashed occasional tightness and was thrown for a strike at 65-69 mph.

2021 3B/C Tristan Pearson (Biloxi HS) showed smooth actions throughout the day. At the plate, the left-handed stroke was short impacting the ball with line drive contact also posting a 85 mph exit velocity.

Although some of the youngest players in attendance, a few 2022 graduates made their presence known as well. OF/LHP Cy Craig (Jackson Prep) took an impressive round of BP for his size and age as he was on the barrel for his entire round launching ball hard to the pull side.  OF/RHP Colton Neal and LHP/OF Blake Gollott both showed a quick arm stroke running their fastball up to 80 mph also displaying feel for the zone.
