Outlook
Coach Jeff Graves returns a seasoned club from a 2017 season that came up short in the 3A State Finals and finished with an overall record of 22-9. The lineup will be solid, as the Bulldogs offense is highlighted by two Division 1 signees Adarius Myers and Fisher Norris. Myers, a Louisiana Tech recruit and 2017 3A Player of the Year has a unique combination of athleticism and power with a strong, projectable frame. Last season Norris, a recent Southern Mississippi recruit hit .446 with 15 extra base hits while driving in 32 runs also recording 39 strikeouts on the mound.
The Bulldogs also return Landry McQueen who should bring offensive support to the lineup coming off a productive 2017 season, hitting .370 while driving in 17 runs. Leading the pitching staff and bolstering the lineup will be two-way players Dalton Cummins, a Pearl River CC recruit, and Cody Ellzey. Cummins had a solid junior season where he struck out 77 opposing batters while hitting .342 and driving in 29 runs.
Sophomore Conner Jones can be expected to have an increased role through 2018 as he is coming off a quality freshman campaign where he hit .367 and drove in 36 runs in 98 at bats while only striking out 16 times.
