Oxford, MS - The Oxford Open was held on Wednesday, May 31st at the The Farm (Athletic Performance Center) in Oxford, MS. This event was an open event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2024-2028 classes in the northern parts of Mississippi. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Wednesday.

Jax Coker, Tupelo Christian (MS), 2026
Positional Profile:1B/RHP 
Body:6-4, 229-pounds. Tall, durable frame
Delivery:Tight and controlled delivery with fairly fluid tempo. Off line to 3B side with direction to plate. Controlled finish. 
Arm Action:RH. Short arm action
FB:T74, 73-74 mph. Developing arm side run and command. T1883, 1862 average rpm.
CB:67-69 mph. 1/7 shape with developing feel. T2025, 2013 average rpm.
CH:70-72 mph. Solid arm speed while still learning command. T1456, 1407 average rpm.
ATH:7.86 runner in the 60. 1.89 and 4.37 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 

Drew Dickey, Tupelo Christian Prep (MS), 2027
Positional Profile:3B/RHP 
Body:6-0, 145-pounds. Tall, lanky projectable frame
Delivery:Smooth, controlled tempo though body is still maturing. Rushes a little down the mound which results in lines being off to the 3B side. Could get longer on stride length. 
Arm Action:RH. Shorter, quick arm action
FB:T71, 69-71 mph. Still developing command of pitch though shows some arm side run when in strike zone. T2069, 2000 average rpm.
SL:60-62 mph. Another developing pitch with sweeping type action. T2185, 2075 average rpm.
SPLT:60-66 mph. Developing pitch
ATH:8.35 runner in the 60. 2.00 and 4.57 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 

Caleb Doty, Lausanne Collegiate (MS), 2025
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 5-11, 185-pounds. Strong, durable frame
Delivery: Controlled tempo and repeatable. Front foot pulls slightly on drive to the plate.
Arm Action: RH. Long and quick arm action, slight pause.
FB: T87, 85-87 mph. Has life up in the zone, some arm side action. T2027, 1982 average rpm.
SL: 71-73 mph. Solid pitch with quick biting, downward action. T2067, 2050 average rpm.
CH: 71-73 mph. Good job with dying spin, gaining command. T1286, 1252 average rpm.
ATH: 6.76 runner in the 60. 1.75 and 3.87 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.

Cole Gregg, Hernando (MS), 2026
Positional Profile:OF/LHP 
Body:5-10, 155-pounds. Lean, athletic frame
Delivery:Slow and controlled delivery. Very repeatable. Good direction though stride could be longer. 
Arm Action:LH. Shorter, quick arm action.
FB:T73, 71-72 mph. Good run when finds the inner half of the zone. T1657, 1605 average rpm.
CB:60-64 mph. T3314, 3314 average rpm.
CH:63-64 mph. Developing pitch with good drop off in spin. T1219, 1172 average rpm.

Wilkes Johnson, Madison-Ridgeland Academy (MS), 2025
Positional Profile:OF/RHP 
Body:6-2, 195-pounds. Tall, durable frame
Delivery:Imposing body with controlled and synced up delivery. Good lines and very repeatable. Has upside.

FB:T81, 80-81 mph. Above average arm side run and good feel for the strike zone. T2016, 1958 average rpm.
CB:68-68 mph. T1838, 1838 average rpm.
CH:71-71 mph. Developing feel and command though has good arm speed. T1676, 1661 average rpm.

Preston Killebrew, Indianola Academy (MS), 2027
Positional Profile:SS/RHP 
Body:5-10, 158-pounds. Lean, athletic frame
Delivery:Manageable tempo as he gets into his legs to move down the mound. Inconsistent lines with foot strike. Could get further into stride length. Maturing body.
Arm Action:RH. High slot with length. 
FB:T72, 71-72 mph. Still developing command with some arm side run when down in the zone. T1777, 1748 average rpm.
SL:66-66 mph. Good tight downward action. Still developing T1948, 1900 average rpm.
CH:68-71 mph. Plays well off fastball arm action. T1608, 1547 average rpm.
ATH:7.62 runner in the 60. 1.87 and 4.24 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 

Reid Raper, Nettleton (MS), 2027
Positional Profile:SS/RHP 
Body:5-9, 137-pounds. Tall, lanky projectable frame
Delivery:Slow controlled tempo and repeatable. Sinks into legs after balance. Could get a little longer into stride. Maturing delivery. 
Arm Action:RH. Long arm action. 
FB:T78, 75-77 mph. Developing arm side action T2100, 1957 average rpm.
CB:70-70 mph. Pounds the strike zone with still developing shape T1428, 1428 average rpm.
SL:65-67 mph. In the strike zone with developing shape. T2025, 1978 average rpm.
CH:71-71 mph. Developing feel for strike zone with mimicking action of fastball. T1458, 1407 average rpm.

CB:60-61 mph. Still finding his command and feel for pitch though shows good early shape. T1845, 1795 average rpm.

Josh Scruggs, Oxford (MS), 2026

Delivery:Smooth and synced up actions. Off line to the 3B side multiple times. PLUS upside!
Arm Action:RH. Long, loose arm action, no restrictions.
FB:T83, 81-83 mph. Gaining feel for zone, though action is very good arm side. T2090, 2012 average rpm.
CB:67-69 mph. Great downward bit with swing and miss action. Still leaning command. T2055, 1961 average rpm.

Arm Action:RH. Long, quick arm action.

CB:60-68 mph. Going to be a very good pitch for him moving forward. Solid sweeping action away from righties. T2110, 2030 average rpm.
CH:68-69 mph. Gaining feel though mimics FB well. T1310, 1227 average rpm.
ATH:7.75 runner in the 60. 1.84 and 4.28 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 

Ethan Wright, Independence (MS), 2024
Positional Profile:2B/RHP 
Body:6-4, 175-pounds. Tall, lean frame
Delivery:Very raw and unrefined delivery, though has present arm strength. Not yet repeatable though has upside. 
Arm Action:RH. Short, quick arm action.
FB:T80, 78-80 mph. Developing command with arm side run when in the strike zone. T2050, 1955 average rpm.
CB:52-54 mph. Has good shape though working on feel and command. T1580, 1570 average rpm.
CH:67-70 mph. Spin decreases though has developing feel. T1447, 1410 average rpm.
ATH:7.56 runner in the 60. 1.82 and 4.19 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 

Gardner Young, Jackson Prep (MS), 2025
Positional Profile:LHP/OF 
Body:6-1, 180-pounds. 
Delivery:Easy, controlled delivery. Solid direction. Very good depth. 
Arm Action:LH. Long, quick arm action.
FB:T88, 86-88 mph. Solid arm side run. T2252, 2216 average rpm.
CB:72-73 mph. Tight action with some bite. Gaining feel for the strike zone. T2257, 2207 average rpm.
CH:80-80 mph. Plus change though still gaining command. T1547, 1400 average rpm.
