Outfield Analysis: Class of 2019 & FG Trials North

The Future Game Trials North event took place on Tuesday, June 20th, at Northwest Community College, in Senatobia, MS. The open event saw prospects from across the state of Mississippi perform in front of several college coaches, and the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff.
Today, the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff takes a deeper look at outfield performances from the June event.
+ Allen Williams, LHP/OF, Cleveland Central, 2019
Lean , athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame. Switch hitter starting from a slightly open, athletic setup with simple loose rhythm in hands. Loads shifting weight back with short stride. Loose, rotational path with uphill path producing an exit velocity 74 mph. Defensively worked through balls well creating direction towards target on throw. Made clean mid-line exchanges working into a high-3/4 release posting a positional velocity of 73 mph from outfield and 61 mph from infield. Ran a 7.6 60-yard dash.
+ Chase Logan, OF/RHP, Grenada, 2019
The wiry 5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitter also showed a flat path with barrel control as he laced line-drive/ground balls during his batting practice round, posting 86 mph exit velocity. Defensively he moved with fluidity, working through the ball with his body, and delivered accurate throws with a live loose arm action and a quick release, posting an outfield velocity 88 mph. and 77 mph from infield. Ran a 7.3 60-yard dash.
+ Stephen Wolf, OF/2B, St. Joseph Catholic, 2019
Medium 5-foot-10, 170-pounder with a strong, developed build. Showed athleticism by posting a 7 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter hits from a tall, open setup with pronounced rhythm. Big barrel tip triggering load with some length in stride. Flashed a flat path with looseness that created line-drive/ground ball contact to the pull side and an exit velocity of 84 mph. In the outfield, he has smooth footwork in his approach to the ball, working into a clean exchange with a high-3/4 release; recorded 84 mph positional velocity.
+ Connor Spencer, OF/RHP, Hernando, 2019
Hulky 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame with present strength in build. Simple stacked set-up from the left side with loose rhythm in hands while holding them close to his body. Smooth load as he lifts his front leg, staying balanced creating good separation in hands. Quick bat, strong hands, natural lift with a simple, clean path. Made strong contact to the middle of the field during batting practice with loose hacks and backspin ability registering an exit velocity of 90 mph. Defensively worked through balls well creating direction towards target on throw with smooth footwork. Worked into a medium arm stroke with high-3/4 release producing accurate throws and a positional velocity of 84 mph. Ran 7.3 60-yard dash.
+ Fredarius Steele, OF, Rosa Fort, 2020
Medium, athletic 5-foot-6, 145-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starting from a tall, open setup with high hands and loose, bat waggle rhythm. Uses hands to trigger load as he works closed, creating separation in hands with length in stride. Direct, flat path working through zone that produced an exit velocity 77 mph. Defensively worked through balls well with rhythm in footwork. Fielded balls out front with two-hands working into clean mid-line exchange and a high-¾ release from a short arm swing producing a positional velocity of 70 mph. Ran a 7.1 60-yard dash.
+ Brett Giger, OF, Cleveland Central, 2020
Medium, athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starting from a tall and upright setup with pronounced bat waggle rhythm. Loads with an abbreviation leg lift walking away from hands creating separation. Flat path through finish producing an exit velocity 67 mph. In the outfield he worked through the ball with rhythm in his footwork and clean transfer, into a long release, made accurate throws that produced a positional velocity of 67 mph. Ran an 8 60-yard dash.
