Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 3 (February 27 - March 4):

Jack Ketchum RHP / 1B / Heritage Academy, MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 34 / POS: 13 Ketchum had a memorable week by putting up numbers that many would be happy with for the entire month! The uncommitted 2024 homered in 3 consecutive games for the Patriots and finished the week with 10 hits in 14 at bats and is our PBR Player of the Week. The 6-3 sturdy framed righty also added a double and 8 rbi's during a 4 games stretch that saw Heritage Academy go 4-0. Ketchum is now hitting .500 with 4 home runs and 12 rbi's on the season.

Cayden Baker RHP / 1B / Lewisburg , MS / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 186 / POS: 53 Cayden Baker showed out on the bump this week by throwing a complete game no hitter with 10 strikeouts in his 3rd appearance of the year and is our PBR Pitcher of the Week. The Baylor commit uses a fastball that nears the 90 mile an hour mark regularly and a knee buckling bender that freezes hitters. In 3 appearances this year for Lewisburg, the 6-2 wiry framed righty has struck out 21 hitters, allowed only 3 runs in 16 innings of work.
