Mississippi - The Mississippi Preseason ID was held Saturday, January 14th at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, MS. This was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2023-2026 classes. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 30 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Saturday.

Continuing off our post-event coverage for these events, we take a look at each positional player that attended either of the events. Check back tomorrow as we conclude our post-event coverage by taking a look at each pitcher in attendance.

Pitcher reports

 

Rowan Atkinson, LHP, Simpson Academy (MS), 2027
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 6-0, 155-pounds. Wiry, projectable frame
Delivery: Quick tempo after a slight crouch over the rubber. Stretch only. Off line with foot strike to first base side. Good control of body throughout his delivery.
Arm Action: LH. Loose arm action from a over the top slot.
FB: T74.3, 72-74 mph. Good arm side run when in the strike zone. Still developing command though advanced for age. T2025, 1854 average rpm.
CB: 58-60 mph. Solid shape tp developing pitch. Good feel for it now. T1837, 1717 average rpm.
CH: 68-69 mph. Mimics fastball though grip could be a little tight as velocity is higher than norm compared to fastball. T1294, 1146 average rpm.

Landon Hawkins, RHP, Sumrall (MS), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-3, 165-pounds. Lean, athletic frame
Delivery: Controlled tempo that gets quicker down the mound. Good direction and stride length.
Arm Action: RH. Long, quick arm action
FB: T82, 80-82 mph. Solid arm side action that should induce plenty of groundalls T2172, 2078 average rpm.
SL: 69-71 mph. Nice shape with quick bite when working middle away T2162, 1949 average rpm.
CH: 72-72 mph. Dies at the plate. Should compliment his FB well T1531, 1432 average rpm.

Cannon Hensarling, RHP, Ocean Springs (MS), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Lean, wiry frame
Delivery: Smooth tempo with direction slightly off line to 3B side. Could get longer into stride.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm action
FB: T81.9, 80-82 mph. Life with not much physical exertion T2116, 2003 average rpm.
SL: 71-72 mph. Tight, late life. Going to be an out pitch for him soon. T2402, 2257 average rpm.
CH: 77-78 mph. Solid action on some though a little firm T1786, 1723 average rpm.

John Woods Hollowell, LHP, Jackson Prep (MS), 2024
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-10, 175-pounds. Wiry athletic frame
Delivery: Controlled tempo with good direction. Very repeatable delivery.
Arm Action: LH. Quick, slightly short arm action
FB: T81.7, 79-81 mph. Has some life at the end and commands well. T2163, 2108 average rpm.
CB: 65-72 mph. Still developing command though shows solid shape T2106, 1978 average rpm.
SL: 71-71 mph. Solid shape though still gaining command. Second of two quality breaking balls. T2082, 2082 average rpm.
CH: 74-77 mph. A little hard at times though mimics decent T2004, 1793 average rpm.

Landry Horn, LHP, Madison Central (MS), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 6-0, 195-pounds. Strong, durable frame
Delivery: Quicker tempo with slight pause. Short stride though with good direction.
Arm Action: LH. Long arm action
FB: T68.8, 66-68 mph. Still developing arm strength. As pressure grows action will increase. T1928, 1864 average rpm.
CB: 57-58 mph. Good feel for pitch. Only going get better with body maturity. T1766, 1584 average rpm.
CH: 62-65 mph. Still developing T1440, 1368 average rpm.

Russ Ingram, RHP, Northwest Rankin (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 5-9, 210-pounds. Stocky frame
Delivery: Smooth tempo with solid direction and longer stride
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm action
FB: T77.9, 76-78 mph. Some arm side run when down, more coming T2161, 2123 average rpm.
CB: 60-63 mph. Great feel for the CB already. May show it too early. T1801, 1756 average rpm.
CH: 63-67 mph. Still developing, telegraphs a little T1508, 1348 average rpm.

Addison Jayroe, RHP, Madison Central (MS), 2025
Positional Profile: 1B/RHP
Body: 6-2, 215-pounds. Large, durable frame
Delivery: Easy, repeatable tempo. Stride length may be too short for size. Good direction
Arm Action: RH. Quick arm action
FB: T76.6, 75-76 mph. More extension will create more life. Gets decent action now T2112, 2002 average rpm.
CB: 64-67 mph. Loopy though still developing. T2218, 2124 average rpm.
CH: 71-73 mph. Still developing T1591, 1520 average rpm.

Jeremiah Johnson, RHP, Jeremiah Johnson (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/2B
Body: 5-11, 145-pounds. Lean, wiry frame
Delivery: Good tempo. Good direction. Could stride longer. Still developing delivery
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action
FB: T66.3, 63-65 mph. Still developing arm strength. As pressure grows action will increase. T1571, 1538 average rpm.
SL: 49-52 mph. T1544, 1511 average rpm.
CH: 55-58 mph. Still developing T1444, 1305 average rpm.

Jackson Meehan, RHP, Jackson Meehan (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/C
Body: 6-1, 160-pounds. Lean, wiry frame
Delivery: Quicker tempo into stride, though controlled and repeatable.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm action
FB: T76.6, 73-77 mph. Nice life for a 2026. Could be a big riser in the coming year. T1950, 1820 average rpm.
SL: 64-65 mph. Great action for a young arm. Will be a big pitch for him. T1978, 1873 average rpm.

Trey Myers, RHP, Trey Myers (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-10, 142-pounds. Wiry, lean frame
Delivery: Smooth, controlled tempo. Good direction and stride length. Some head tilt into release
Arm Action: RH. Quick arm action
FB: T80.1, 78-80 mph. Has some jump to it. Solid action with upside T1896, 1796 average rpm.
SL: 65-68 mph. Good feel for pitch with solid biting action T1935, 1935 average rpm.
CH: 68-72 mph. Could be a solid pitch for him though still working on command T1573, 1519 average rpm.

Aiden Peets, RHP, Madison Ridgeland (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 5-11, 140-pounds. Wiry, athletic frame
Delivery: Easy tempo and controlled delivery. Slightly off line to 3B side and could get longer into stride
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm action
FB: T78.1, 75-78 mph. Good arm side run and action when down T1820, 1693 average rpm.
SL: 64-69 mph. Still developing command T1630, 1507 average rpm.
CH: 71-74 mph. Has a feel for the pitch already T1725, 1595 average rpm.

Braden Preus, RHP, Bayshore (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-3, 180-pounds. Wiry, lean frame
Delivery: Smooth tempo and controlled though stride length could be longer. Some head tilt at release.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action
FB: T76, 67-76 mph. Some arm side run in the zone. May pronate early T1632, 1369 average rpm.
SL: 67-69 mph. Has shape and action though slightly inconsistent from pitch to pitch. As command of the pitch gets better could be his "go to". T1792, 1628 average rpm.
CH: 68-70 mph. Has split action. Very solid offspeed which should be tough on both lefties and righties T1046, 921 average rpm.

Buckley Stewart, RHP, Madison Central (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: C/2B
Body: 5-7, 140-pounds. Small athletic frame
Arm Action: RH.
FB: T73.8, 67-74 mph. Developing action to his FB, keeps it in the zone well T2162, 1982 average rpm.
SL: 59-62 mph. Solid spin and gaining command. T2265, 2127 average rpm.
CH: 63-65 mph. Still developing T1361, 1284 average rpm.

Hayden Wilson, RHP, Madison Central (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/3B
Body: 5-11, 160-pounds. Projectable frame
Delivery: Smooth tempo and good direction into release. Fairly controlled throughout delivery
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action
FB: T72.3, 70-72 mph. Still developing arm. As pressure and body matures action will increase. T1942, 1851 average rpm.
CB: 59-61 mph. T2298, 2273 average rpm.
SL: 59-62 mph. Nice tight action on a few sliders. Should be a go to pitch for him in the future. T2143, 2102 average rpm.
CH: 67-67 mph. Still developing T1474, 1369 average rpm.
