On Sunday, November 12, some of the top talent in Mississippi met in Ellisville, MS to compete in the PBR Mississippi All-State Games. The premier invite only event saw over fifty of the top prospects from the state of Mississippi perform in front of several college coaches, as well as the Prep Baseball Report scouting staff.

Today, Prep Baseball Report Mississippi takes a look at a few thoughts, observations and quick hits covering several notable underclassmen from Sunday’s All-State Games.

+ 2019 RHP Shelby Terrell (West Marion HS) has a wiry, projectable pitcher’s frame at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds, with room for added strength. He works from a drop and drive type delivery with a high-3/4 release and a short, quick arm stroke. His fastball showed good angle downhill as it jumped out of his hand, sitting 83-86 mph. Terrell also showed a breaking ball with 11/5 shape and depth at 72-76 mph.

+ 2019 SS/2B Reed Trimble (Northwest Rankin HS) is a solid switch hitting middle infielder that showed a well-rounded game, posting a 6.79 60-dash, 84 mph positional velocity and an 86 mph exit velocity. Offensively, Trimble hits from an athletic, balanced setup with short stride and simple load. Trimble shows the ability to consistently put the barrel on the baseball, using a line-drive, gap-to-gap approach and a short, compact stroke.

+ 2021 OF/RHP Tyler Davison (Brandon HS) is an interesting young arm to watch as he continues to mature. On the mound, the right-hander works from a short, high-3/4 release and some effort in delivery. He showed good feel to command his fastball which sat 81-83 in his one inning of work, while his breaking ball showed depth and developing spin at 67-68 mph. At 5-foot-10, 155-pounds, with a quick arm, one can project velocity to continue to climb.

+ 2020 OF/RHP Tripp Wilson (Tupelo HS) had a solid showing on Sunday as he posted some of the top numbers out of anyone in his class. A lean, athletic 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame, Wilson showed quality arm strength during the defensive evaluations, posting a positional velocity of 85 mph.  At the plate, the right-handed hitter works from a tall, stacked setup and toe tap load. Wilson displayed a compact swing that produced an exit velocity of 85 mph.

+ 2020 SS/2B Nick Ogden (Brookhaven Academy) has a stocky 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame. The sophomore right-handed hitter was on the barrel in practice with a quick toe tap rhythm and strength in his hands recording an exit velocity of 88 mph.  For his age and size, Ogden was also able to show a solid level of athleticism, posting a 7.18 60-yard dash.

+ 2020 SS/3B Brady Spring (Brookhaven Academy) is an athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame, with room for continued growth. Defensively moved well laterally with fluid footwork, clean exchanges into a 3/4 release with accuracy on throws, posted a positional velocity of 76 mph. Spring, a right-handed hitter showed a simple leg kick load with a short stride and direct path that produced an exit velocity of 82 mph with line drive contact.
