While most of the state has experienced significant amounts of rain, with unplayable fields, we were very fortunate to have great weather in Jackson, MS for the MS All-State Games. The Invite Only event, was hosted at Jackson State University and revealed several standout performers from around the state. Today we take a brief look at a few infielders we saw on last Sunday.

+ We mentioned 2019 SS/RHP Leif Moore (St. Martin HS) in our last weeks Quick Hits Part 1. The Pearl River CC commit has an athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame with plenty of room to add strength over the next couple of years. Offensively, Moore flashed a short approach creating good lag through the zone, to go with a balanced setup. He posted an exit velocity of 90 mph off the tee, and showed gap power during BP, as well a quality at-bat during the game where he found barrel in a couple at-bats. Moore worked with fluid footwork at shortstop and flashed plenty of arm strength across the diamond at 85 mph.

+ 2020 Brady Springs (Brookhaven Ac.) is a quality player and more of a “Gamer” than a workout guy because his measurable didn’t jump off the page. Listed at 6-foot, 185-pounds, Spring projects to play a corner infield position at the next level. High Baseball IQ with confident presence at the plate from the left side.

+ 2019 Tristan Tigrett (Brandon HS) didn’t have much to show for it during the game, but he did make some good passes on a couple of balls that he just missed. Defensively worked through balls with rhythm and soft, receptive hands out front, making accurate throws from a high-3/4 slot.

+ 2019 Thomas Milam (Ridgeland HS) handled the ball well in the middle of the field playing light on his feet at shorstop, and flashed an accurate arm across the diamond. Offensively, Milam has a simple rhythm in his load with good lag through the zone showing a ground ball line drive approach during BP.

+ On the infield is where 2020 Robert Riggin (Raymond HS) had a solid showing as he played through the ball with smooth actions, soft hands, midline exchange, quick release and his arm works from different slots with a top velocity of 81 mph across the diamond. The switch hitter had a tall, relax setup at the plate with high hands and loose rhythm, showing a more consistent approach from the right side.
