Last Chance Senior Showcase: Outfielders

The Last Chance Senior Showcase took place on Saturday May 6th, on the campus of East Central Community College. The open event saw fifteen players from all across Mississippi perform in front of college coaches and the PBR Scouting Staff.
Today we look at the outfield performances from last week’s event.

Alfred Barnes OF / Vicksburg, MS / 2018Medium 5-foot-11, 185-pound frame with athletic build. Right-handed hitter that starts from tall setup with hands starting at shoulder height. Loose rhythm with slight shift of weight loading. Front foot hitter as barrel works uphill through contact producing an exit velocity of 77 mph. Defender with receptive hands, showing deliberate footwork, clean exchanges, and plays through the ball athletically with big crow-hop. Short, high-3/4 arm stroke producing a positional velocity of 78 mph.

Trey Brady LHP / OF / Diberville , MS / 2018Average 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame with room for continued growth. Right-handed hitter shows rhythm throughout with a smooth simple load and loose hands. Stacked setup and balanced throughout, leverage through the zone the produced an exit velocity of 78 mph. Outfield gains ground on ground balls, working through the catch with fluid footwork and clean exchange, posting a positional velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 7.79 60-yard dash.

Bradley McCullough 2B / SS / Porter's Chapel, MS / 20185-foot-6, 120-pound frame. Left-handed hitter that starts from crouched, stack setup with simple shift of weight loading. Rotational path that works uphill through contact that produced an exit velocity of 76 mph. Defender that worked through ball athletically with smooth, aggressive footwork, receptive hands into clean transfers. Short ¾ arm stroke that produced a positional velocity of 76 mph. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash.

Jordan Rand 2B / OF / Terry, MS / 2018Athletic 6-foot-1, 181-pounds with lean build. Showed solid level of athleticism running a 6.95 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter starts from a tall, stacked setup, with simple leg lift load, short stride and balance. Short, rotational path with line drive/ground ball contact that produced an exit velocity of 69 mph, but has posted an 89 mph exit velocity early in the year. Defender that worked through balls athletically with deliberate footwork, receptive hands, clean exchanges into short 3/4 release producing a positional velocity 74 mph from outfield.

Aubrey Long OF / 3B / Vardaman, MS / 2018Long-limb 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame with room to continue to fill. Right-handed hitter starting from tall, stacked setup with hands slightly above shoulders. Simple leg lift loads with short stride and decent balance. Rotational path creating line-drive/ground ball contact to the pull side, producing an exit velocity of 77 mph. Outfielder that worked through balls with deliberate footwork, receptive hands and clean exchange. Slow gather into long arm stroke and high-3/4 release that produced a positional velocity of 73 mph. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash.

Britton Tatum C / OF / St. Patrick Catholic, MS / 2018Athletic 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame. Right-handed hitter that starts from tall, stack setup with simple repeatable rhythm. Short, direct path with stiffness in uphill finish that produced an exit velocity of 80 mph. Defender that worked through ball athletically with smooth, aggressive footwork, receptive hands into clean transfers. Short, high-3/4 arm stroke with stiffness in finish, recorded a positional velocity of 77 mph from outfield. Ran a 7.43 60-yard dash.
