Infield Analysis: Future Game Trials North

The Future Game Trials North event took place on Tuesday, June 20th, at Northwest Community College, in Senatobia, MS. The open event saw prospects from across the state of Mississippi perform in front of several college coaches, and the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff.

+ Sebastian Bonome, 3B, Northwest Rankin, 2020
Long-limb 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame with room for added strength. Right-handed hitter starting from an open, athletic setup with simple rhythm in hands. Loads back with his body and as he takes an very subtle stride into an square position, keeps his hands over his backside during his weight-shift with his body to create separation. Level, rotational path that produced an exit velocity of 77 mph. In the infield, he has soft hands with fluid footwork working to the baseball with slowed footwork after the catch. Work into a clean exchange and high-3/4 release showing accuracy at 73 mph across the diamond. Ran a 7 60-yard dash.
+ Hayden Wilburn, 2B, Cleveland Central, 2020
Medium, athletic 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame. Works from a wide, athletic stance at the plate with bat waggle rhythm. Has a smooth load back, with knee-to-knee load and loose hands, a level barrel path that finishes at shoulder height, produced and exit velocity of 68 mph. Defensively worked with short choppy footwork in the infield, flashed receptive hands, has a clean transfer out in front of his body, and has a short arm action with accuracy recording a positional velocity of 68 mph. Ran a 7.7 60-yard dash.

Medium, athletic 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starting from a slightly squatted and wide setup with hands starting at shoulder height. Works into lower half with a double toe tap and short stride. Rotational, flat path that produced an exit velocity 67 mph. Defensively worked to balls with deliberate footwork, clean exchanges and receptive hands, fielding balls deep. Works into a short ¾ release producing a positional velocity of 67 mph. Ran a 7.5 60-yard dash.

Physically developed 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame. Right-handed hitter starting from a narrow and open stance with relaxed posture. Works to closed position with a small toe tap before taking a stride forward. Lands in wide, athletic base with balance throughout swing. Hands work through zone with lift in swing producing a exit velocity of 80 mph. Defensively he worked with receptive hands, funneling the ball smoothly to his midline to make a clean exchange. Slowed gather into a high-¾ release producing an 78 mph positional velocity. Ran a 7.9 60-yard dash.

Athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame with room for added strength. Left-handed hitter starting from an open and tall setup with loose rhythm in hands. Loads with a quick, abbreviated leg kick into a short stride, slightly creating separation with hands.
