Gulf Coast Open: Pitcher & Catcher Reports

PERKINSTON, MS - The Gulf Coast Open & Rising Stars ID was held on Tuesday, July 11th at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC in Perkinston, MS. This event was an open event that consisted of some of the top prospects from the 2024-2028 classes across all parts of Mississippi. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw bullpens and were able to get numbers and metrics via TrackMan. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look back at the scouting reports on all pitchers and catchers who attended the Gulf Coast Open.

pitcher reports

Bryk Bucklar, Biloxi (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 5-8, 145-pounds. Projectable frame
Delivery: Clean and easy operation down the mound. Could get longer into stride length. Good extension
Arm Action: RH
FB: T79, 78-79 mph. Pounds the strike zone. Some arm side action though still developing. T2294, 2260 average rpm.
CB: 63-64 mph. Very good feel for pitch. Lots of depth. T1818, 1731 average rpm.
CH: 70-71 mph. Could be game changer for him. Mimics FB well T1641, 1562 average rpm.
ATH: 7.94 runner in the 60.

Jimmy Corley, Chalmette (LA), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/1B
Body: 6-1, 172-pounds. Tall, durable build
Delivery: Quicker tempo with direction off to 3B side. Could get longer into stride though direction and length could add deception.
Arm Action: RH. Quick Arm action.
FB: T78, 77-78 mph. Lots of strikes. Sets up offspeed T1930, 1879 average rpm.
CB: 65-66 mph. Very good action and sells the fastball well. T1981, 1930 average rpm.
CH: 70-71 mph. Still developing feel. Backs up on him. T1304, 1256 average rpm.
ATH: 8.10 runner in the 60.

TJ Davis, Lamar Christian (MS), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/1B
Body: 6-0, 180-pounds. Tall, durable build
Delivery: Clean and easy operation down the mound. Sits into the back side. Has upside.
Arm Action: RH. Length and some whip.
FB: T80, 79-80 mph. Excellent arm side action. Should induce plenty of groundballs. Still developing command. T2013, 1950 average rpm.
CB: 70-71 mph. Good downward action and depth. Continue working down in zone. T2035, 2008 average rpm.
CH: 74-76 mph. Developing feel with very solid action T1596, 1515 average rpm.
ATH: 8.24 runner in the 60.

Wil Drew, Copiah Academy (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds.
Delivery: Smooth tempo throughout the delivery, controlled with upside. Good direction.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action. Over the top slot.
FB: T83, 79-83 mph. Solid upside. Fastball should set up off speed up nicely. T2129, 2005 average rpm.
SL: 74-75 mph. Still developing feel and command. Tight action when near zone. T1944, 1831 average rpm.
CH: 75-80 mph. At little hard at times. Still developing though shows plus pitch signs. T1766, 1669 average rpm.

Gavin Foreman, Acadiana (LA), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/C
Body: 6-1, 215-pounds. Strong, durable build
Delivery: Slower tempo and controlled delivery. Moves down the mound well though slightly off line to 3B side.
Arm Action: RH. Shortness to arm action.
FB: T83, 81-83 mph. Good feel for the strikezone. More life coming. T2013, 1967 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. Good feel for spin. Works in the zone with 12/6 action. T1852, 1812 average rpm.
CH: 71-73 mph. Works well off fastball action. Solid pitch. T1485, 1438 average rpm.
ATH: 7.91 runner in the 60.

Ty Lamartina, Acadiana (LA), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-10, 165-pounds. Athletic, projectable frame.
Delivery: Controlled tempo and good direction down the mound. Very repeatable.
Arm Action: RH. Short, quick arm action.
FB: T83, 81-83 mph. Some life and arm side run. T2237, 2169 average rpm.
CB: 69-73 mph. Solid spin numbers. T2688, 2393 average rpm.
SL: 73-73 mph. Very good pitch in the works. Lots of quick bite and downward action. High spin T2396, 2396 average rpm.
CH: 73-73 mph. Very solid action on change. Still developing command. T1879, 1854 average rpm.
ATH: 8.21 runner in the 60.

Gage Lott, Seminary (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-1, 160-pounds. Tall, lean frame
Delivery: Slower tempo throughout the delivery, controlled. Still developing arm strength.
Arm Action: RH. Shorter arm action.
FB: T69, 66-69 mph. Body still maturing. Should see big changes within the year. T2087, 1757 average rpm.
SL: 62-65 mph. Good downward action when in zone. Still developing action and feel. T2002, 1967 average rpm.
CH: 68-70 mph. Still developing but knows how to kill spin. T1724, 1470 average rpm.
ATH: 7.53 runner in the 60.

Cooper Lyrock, Bay Saint Louis (MS), 2027
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 5-9, 140-pounds. Projectable frame
Delivery: Slower tempo throughout the delivery, controlled.
Arm Action: RH. Short arm action
FB: T70, 69-70 mph. Still developing command T1803, 1526 average rpm.
SL: 61-61 mph. Developing pitch. Has some feel. T1664, 1639 average rpm.
CH: 58-60 mph. Still developing. Looks to be pushing pitch slightly. T1228, 1205 average rpm.
ATH: 8.63 runner in the 60.

Jayden Madison, Petal (MS), 2025
Positional Profile: 2B/RHP
Body: 5-10, 155-pounds. Strong, athletic frame
Delivery: Hybrid set, quicker tempo throughout the delivery.
Arm Action: RH. High arm with looseness
FB: T82, 80-82 mph. Still developing command of fastball. Solid run. T1900, 1864 average rpm.
CB: 68-69 mph. Still developing command and feel. T2249, 2166 average rpm.
SL: 75-75 mph. Quick downward action through developing command. T2049, 2049 average rpm.
CH: 76-78 mph. Developing feel though signs of a very quality pitch. T1571, 1544 average rpm.
ATH: 7.78 runner in the 60.

Kale Matthews, West Jones (MS), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-2, 150-pounds.
Delivery: Closed set up from stretch. Quick delivery with inconsistent lines.
Arm Action: RH. Sideram slot with length.
FB: T82, 79-81 mph. Very good arm side run. Will get tons of groundball activity. T1938, 1818 average rpm.
SL: 68-69 mph. Solid action when off plate to righties. Could be plus pitch at next level with added command. T2315, 2276 average rpm.
CH: 68-69 mph. Kills spin. Very solid action. Mimics fastball with lots of fade. T1266, 1160 average rpm.

Carter McCammon, Resurrection Catholic (MS), 2025
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-4, 200-pounds. Tall, strong frame
Delivery: Hybrid set up, easy flowing and controlled delivery. Slight recoil.
Arm Action: RH. Over the top, long arm action.
FB: T76, 75-76 mph. Some deception with delivery. Good downward action. T1960, 1906 average rpm.
SL: 68-70 mph. Solid pitch though still developing action. T2152, 1992 average rpm.
CH: 68-70 mph. Dies at plate. Will gets hitters onto front foot. T1491, 1416 average rpm.
ATH: 7.71 runner in the 60.

Ryan Nelson, Warren Central (MS), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 6-0, 155-pounds. Lean, projectable frame
Delivery: Quicker tempo down the mound with intent.
Arm Action: RH. Lots of length, looseness, and whip action.
FB: T85, 83-85 mph. Very good arm side action. runs in hard to righties T2397, 2326 average rpm.
SL: 72-73 mph. Late action. Very quick arm. T2411, 2349 average rpm.
CH: 76-76 mph. Developing command and feel. Grib could be a litte tight. Could be a very solid pitch based on action. T1637, 1574 average rpm.
ATH: 7.13 runner in the 60.

Austin Rylee, Brookhaven (MS), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds.
Delivery: Smooth tempo and very solid lines. Polished with upside.
Arm Action: RH. Long, loose arm action.
FB: T87, 86-87 mph. Solid upside and fastball command makes secondary stuff better. Some late arm side action. T2014, 1917 average rpm.
SL: 69-71 mph. Good late action. Works two angles T2096, 2057 average rpm.
CH: 77-79 mph. Plus pitch. Very good feel. T1626, 1556 average rpm.

Alex Scheuermann, St. Martin's Episcopal (LA), 2026
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 5-8, 135-pounds. Projectable frame
Delivery: Easy, controlled and repeatable tempo. Solid line to target.
Arm Action: LH. Long arm action. High 3/4 slot
FB: T80, 75-79 mph. Good feel for pitch. Some life at end. T1958, 1852 average rpm.
SL: 68-69 mph. Good feel for pitch. Works off the plate vs. lefties. T2158, 2126 average rpm.
CH: 73-73 mph. Still developing feel. T1344, 1302 average rpm.
ATH: 7.37 runner in the 60.

Ryne Stevens, Oak Grove (MS), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 5-9, 160-pounds. Strong, projectable frame
Delivery: Slower tempo throughout the delivery, and controlled. Stride length could be longer.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm action.
FB: T77, 73-76 mph. Some action though still developing command and feel T1969, 1850 average rpm.
CB: 57-62 mph. Gets to the side of the pitch. Still developing action. T2139, 1668 average rpm.
CH: 61-63 mph. Kills spin well T1331, 1131 average rpm.
ATH: 8.97 runner in the 60.

Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 5-8, 145-pounds. Projectable frame
Hit: RHH. Tall, open stance with normal hand set Controlled load and stride with knee lift. Quick hands through the zone with a level bat path for a line drive approach up the middle to pull side.
Power: 79 max exit velocity, averaged 73.5 mph. 277' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-72 mph. Short quick arm action
Defense: 2.08-2.22 pop times. Advanced setup behind the plate. Quick feet and hands on throws to 2nd. Good direction as well. Solid approach to blocks and fundamental approach to bunt coverages.
ATH: 7.94 runner in the 60.

Brody Giglio, Rummel (LA), 2026
Positional Profile: C/SS
Body: 5-7, 150-pounds. Projectable frame
Hit: RHH. Conventional stance with relaxed hand set on back shoulder Small load and stride into aggressive swing. Looks to pull the ball with authority. Some loft to swing.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 78.9 mph. 322' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-74 mph. Short, quick arm action
Defense: 2.07-2.25 pop times. Good setup behind the plate. Good direction and footwork on throws to 2nd and 3rd. Quick transfer allows for a solid pop. Solid setup for blocks and good approach to bunt coverages.

Wyatt Buratt, Ascension Christian (LA), 2025
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-10, 185-pounds. Projectable frame
Hit: RHH. Balanced, open stance with slightly lower than normal hand set. Easy load and stride. Quick hands work through the zone well with a level bat path for solid line drive approach. Works well with the pitch up the middle and to the pull side. 69.8 mph bat speed with 8 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 83.7 mph. 332' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-79 mph. Short quick arm action
Defense: 1.94-2.06 pop times. Advanced look behind the plate. Good set up. Good direction on throws to 2nd and 3rd. Quick transfer allows for a solid pop times. Solid setup for blocks and fundamental approach to bunt coverages.
ATH: 7.25 runner in the 60.
