Summitt, MS - Hattiesburg grabs the lead early and holds on to claim an 11-5 victory over North Pike.

Hattiesburg gave the ball to Louisiana Lafayette commit, UTL Dexter Jordan for the start and he gave his team four quality innings before going to the bullpen for 2020 SS Caleb Tart. Tart would only pitch 0.1 innings allowing four runs on three hits while walking one, before Hattiesburg would give the ball back to Jordan in the fourth to minimize the damage. Jordan would eventually work out of the big inning, with his fastball ranging 82-86 mph for 6.2 innings allowing two hits, three walks while striking out six. 

On the mound for North Pike, uncommitted 2019 LHP Kole Alford got the start and was able to give his team three solid innings of work allowing six hits, two earned runs while striking out five. Alford pitched 84-86 mph and was up to 87 mph with his fastball that showed heavy life. 

Alford worked efficiently through 2.2 innings before the bats of Hattiesburg came alive. Dexter Jordan would get things going offensively for Hattiesburg in the third after pushing the first run across with a two out RBI double to deep right-field. Miami Dade JC commit, Kameron Wells and Alabama State commit, AJ Stinson both had RBI’s in the frame to help extend the lead.

This big inning got things going for the Hattiesburg Tigers offensively, as they would total 12 hits on the day with KaDarius Hicks, Kameron Wells, AJ Stinson, Joe Gray and Dexter Jordan all having multiple hits on the day.

Austin Fortinberry and Adam Leonard lead North Pike offensively and would be a big part of the four run fourth inning. But Hattiesburg would prove to be too much as they would hold off the offensive charge by North Pike in the fourth and claim an 11-5 victory.
