The Dulins Dodgers Scout Day took place on Sunday, December 17th at Sports Performance Institute, in Cordova, TN. The scout day saw fifty players from the Dulin Dodger organization take part in a pro-style workout in front of the Prep Baseball Report Mississippi scouting staff, as well as the Prep Baseball Report Tennessee scouting staff.

Sunday’s scout day was littered with some of the top underclass prospects from the North Mississippi/Memphis Tennessee area. In the days and weeks to come there will be complete coverage from Sunday’s scout day.

Today, Prep Baseball Report Mississippi takes a look at a few quick hits, observations and revelations from Sunday’s Dulins Dodgers Scout Day.

2019 OF Terris Meeks (DeSoto Central, MS) recorded some of the top numbers on Sunday. Standing a lean 6-foot, 160-pound with an athletic frame and room for added strength, Meeks displayed premium arm strength recording a positional velocity of 88 mph as well as a quality level of athleticism running a 6.94 60-yard dash. A right-handed hitter, Meeks hits from a balanced, athletic setup with fluid rhythm throughout his swing, generating quality bat speed and strength at contact.

2021 SS/2B Jeffrey Ince (Memphis University, TN) is a solid switch-hitting middle infielder that had a quality display of his twitchy athleticism posting a 6.75 60-yard dash time, 86 mph positional velocity and an 86 mph exit velocity. Although Ince is still developing physically, he showed the ability to find barrel with line-drive contact during his batting practice round.

2020 C Briggs Rutter (Zion Christian, TN) showed well behind the plate giving a large target with fluid footwork and clean transfer allowing his arm to work freely, producing pop time of 1.97-2.03 with accuracy and carry on throws. Offensively, the right-handed hitter hits from an open, slightly crouched stance with a high back elbow set. The path is flat and stays in the zone for a long time with bat speed that produced an exit velocity of 89 mph.

2021 RHP/OF Brayden Sanders (Lewisburg, MS) is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound right-hander that showed advanced polish for his age as he showed control of two pitches in the zone. Remaining linear down the mound, Sanders delivers out of a high ¾ slot with regular effort. His fastball sat 84-85, and his quick arm made it play up even harder as he controlled it in the zone. More impressive was his ability to spin a hard 11/5-shape curveball that showed late action at 71-73 mph. 

2020 SS/RHP Lee Burrow (Hernando, MS) stands a projectable 6-foot-5, 185-pounds with wiry-athleticism, and room to continue filling out.  On the mound he works from a medium, high-3/4 arm stroke and fluid rhythm throughout his delivery, running his fastball up to 84 mph, pitching 83-84 mph. Although the secondary pitches are still developing, the breaking ball showed 11/5 shape at 69-70 mph with occasional depth and tight spin. The upside for Burrow is evident when watching him, and I believe he may make a jump in the near future.
