Alabama High School Team Preview: Charles Henderson Trojans
January 12, 2021
The 2021 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. That excitement may be at an all-time high entering this high school season as the 2020 high school baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season during an offseason unlike any other and as always, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Montgomery at the AISA or AHSAA state championships but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason Top 10 in each AHSAA classification.
*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Outlook:
The Trojans enter this season with aspirations of a 5A Area 4 title in their sights. They will depend on a strong defense and an understanding of the word, "Team". One returning player that will be counted on heavily is senior utility player Brady Sparrow. He really has a true understanding of the game and will play a number of different positions. Sparrow is one of the more talented players on the Trojan roster. Senior 1B/RHP Adrian Cardwell is a very physical player that has some major juice to the pullside and should be a big run producer this year. Senior IF/CF JB Sanders returns and should be a tabel setter for the Trojan offense. Sanders is the fastest player on the team and and will be a threat on the bases in 2021. Junior CF/LHP Darryl Lee is a very talented player that is a solid arm from the left side, showing action on every pitch. Lee also shows some serious bat speed and has a chance to leave the yard every time he steps in the box. He is coming off of ACL surgery and is still working on getting his strength back. Sophomore C/3B Damian Hart is a powerfully built catcher that shows nice arm strength behind the plate and has the capability to be an extra base hit machine this season. He is still learning the finer things behind the plate but is progressing very well. MIF Tyler Martin is an intriguing 8th grader to keep an eye on that can play either SS or 3B. Martin is a physical youngster that shows an impressive hit tool. Junior OF Cobie Cantlow is a tall kid that creates some violence in the swing and can really become an advanced hitter as he continues to cut down on his swing and misses. RHP Brady Huner is another junior that will be counted on heavily on the mound this year. He isn't afraid of anything and simply attacks hitters with a low 80's fastball. Huner doesn't get rattled and enjoys the big moment. Once again, the Trojans should field a very talented team in 2021.
