January 6, 2022
The 2022 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Montgomery at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason Top 10 in each AHSAA classification.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each AHSAA classification as well as a Power 25. One thing that you especially don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state as well as recaps and previews of big games across the state.
*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

Team Outlook
The Charles Henderson Trojans have won multiple state title over the past 15 years, and they'll look to have a successful season this spring. They lose a bit from last year's squad, but there are some up-and-coming players that will look to find their own way in 2022.
The Trojans will have some upperclassmen to depend on, but SS Tyler Martin is a freshman who is a key returner for them. Martin is a 6-0, 190-pound right-handed hitter with present strength and much more power to come in the future. He's been a top performer at multiple events this year, and he'll look to carry over that momentum to this spring. RHP/OF Brady Huner is a senior who is best described by his coach as a "competitor". He brings back the most experience for this team and will be looked upon as a leader. OF/1B Cobie Cantlow, like Huner, is another senior for the Trojans that has plenty of experience coming into his final year. He's a tall & rangy 6-3, 170-pounder with a good understanding of the game. UTL Will Templin is a junior who brings a ton of versatility to his overall game. He'll multiple positions defensively, and is a scrappy hitter from the right side.
Charles Henderson was able to reach the 5A State Playoffs last spring, but was defeated in the 1st Round against a talented UMS-Wright squad. Keep an eye out for the Trojans in 2022 as they attempt to get back and make a run throughout the playoffs.
