On Saturday, February 24th, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff traveled to Parkville, MO to host the Prodigy Scout Day. This event featured 25+ players representing the 2024-to-2027 classes from Missouri.

Those in attendance participated in a pro-style workout in front of our staff, gathering unrivaled data and measureables through the help of our tech partners. To see what our events offer, click HERE.

Now, at the event's conclusion, our staff has gone through our scout notes and we've highlighted some of the day's name-to-know players below. Additionally, we've also compiled several of the statistical leaders from this event into categorical leaderboards, which can also be found if you continue reading.

QUICK HITS

+ LHP/OF Brody Irlbeck (Staley, 2025; Iowa commit) continues to show loud tools on both sides of the ball, solidifying his status as one of the top two-way follows in Missouri. The 6-foot, 175-pound southpaw ran his fastball up to 92.1 mph in this look, consistently sitting between 88-91 mph. He paired that with a curveball at 73-77 mph and a changeup at 79-82 mph. At the plate Irlbeck, was consistently on the barrel, producing loud contact and driving balls pullside with a peak exit velocity of 99.9 mph. He then wrapped up the day by delivering a 97 mph bullet from the outfield and running a 3.92 30.

+ RHP Jake Thomas (Staley, 2025; Butler commit) had an impressive showing on the mound at Saturday’s event. He’s an easy, polished, and athletic mover downhill with a quick arm to pair. The physical, 6-foot-2, 164-pound junior pitched at 86-87 mph with his fastball, averaging 2300+ RPM, with a peak spin rate of 2426 RPM. Thomas also possesses one of the state’s better curveballs, which he threw at 73-76 mph in this look, averaging 2700 RPM, while also showing a changeup at 80-81 mph

+ 2023 PBR Future Games alum RHP Jacob Garcia (Staley, 2025) was another junior arm that showed well at this event. Garcia pitched at 85-87 mph in this look with natural run at times. He showed feel to land a sharp slider for strikes at 74-78 mph and turned over a low-spin changeup at 77-78 mph. At the plate, the righty produced a peak exit velocity of 90.8 mph while sending his furthest ball 309 feet. His arm also played well in the field, firing 88 mph from the outfield for the second best mark of the day.

+ INF/RHP Julian Dunlap (Liberty North, 2026) is a 6-foot, 170-pound athlete with upside on both sides of the ball. Dunlap showed a quick swing that stayed through the zone and drove balls through the middle of the field in BP, producing a top EV of 88.8 mph. On the mound, Dunlap threw his fastball at 79-82 while commanding a changeup/curveball/cutter mix to go alongside.

+ Saturday’s trip to Parkville allowed us to check in with 2023 Future Games participant and one of the top catchers in Missouri’s 2025 class in C Easton Phillippe (Staley; Wichita State commit). Phillippe started off the day using a polished left-handed swing to send his best barrel 316 feet at a 94 mph exit velocity. Behind the plate, the junior posted a 1.89-2.03 pop time with a quick, clean transfer. Phillippe wrapped up the day by running a 3.95 second 30 - top-5 at the event.

+ With plenty of room to add on at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds, INF Grant Madrid (Staley, 2025) is an athletic uncommitted junior to follow from Saturday’s event. Madrid swings a smooth, effortless right-handed barrel that produces line drives to all fields. Defensively, his arm played true across the diamond, producing a top velocity of 84 mph with sure-handed actions to pair.
