Prime and Precision Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Monday, February 19th, the PBR Kansas staff traveled to the The Backstop in Lenexa, KS, to host the annual Prime and Precision Scout Day. This event, which is in its second year, was open to all Prime and Precision 2024-to-2027 prospects with 30+ names in attendance.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 11 names that popped to our staff from Monday's trip to Lenexa.

QUICK HITS

+ RHP/C/INF Parker Clubb (Mulvane, 2026; Louisville commit) once again boosted his prospect status in an impressive performance at last Monday’s event. The physical 6-foot-1, 181-pound sophomore generates effortless bat speed and power at the plate with a balanced left-handed swing. Clubb consistently produced exit velocities over 90 mph, sending his best ball 379 feet at 102.4 mph. Defensively, Clubb produced his best pop time of 1.89-1.94 with a 81 mph mark from behind the plate and a 91 mph mark across the diamond. Additionally, he ran a 6.99 60. On the mound, Clubb threw his fastball at 88-89 mph (T2430 RPM spin), reaching 90 mph. He paired that with a slider at 78-80 mph and a changeup at 82-84 mph.

+ Another strong, all-around two-way showing came from OF/LHP Micah Patterson (Lee’s Summit, 2026). Patterson set the tone for the day by posting an event-leading 6.97 60 time as well as firing a 89 mph bullet from the outfield to get the day started. At the plate, the 5-foot-8, 160-pound swung a loud left-handed barrel with an average exit velocity of 90.3, reaching 98.1 mph at his peak. Afterwards, Patterson hopped on the mound, throwing his fastball at 86-87, T88 with a curveball at 72-74 mph (T2642 RPM) to pair. 

+ RHP/INF Cade Wysong (Blue Valley West, 2026) was another sophomore that showed well on both sides of the ball at this event. With plenty of upside at 6-foot, 180-pounds, Wysong showed bat strength throughout his round with a level, inside-out swing, generating exit velocities upwards of 96.8 mph. His arm played true across the infield, reaching 85 mph on his best throw which was second best at the event. Wysong then hopped on the mound and pitched at 83-85 mph, T86 mph with the aptitude to land his curveball for strikes at 70-74 mph.

+ Fellow Blue Valley West teammate, RHP/INF Nick Poste (2026) is plenty physical with strength throughout at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. Poste’s strength was evident in BP where he showed plenty of bat strength and a powerful stroke, sending his furthest ball 341 feet with an exit velocity of 93.9 mph. Defensively, he showcased sure-handed actions and a loose arm to pair, resulting in a 82 mph top velocity across the infield. Poste’s fastball also played with natural run in the mid-80s on the mound with a curveball/changeup mix to pair.

+ INF/RHP Cohen Drake (Holden, 2026) is an athletic 6-foot-1, 165-pound sophomore that looked the part on both sides of the ball on Sunday. At the plate, Drake swings an aggressive, right-handed barrel that elevated balls pullside with some pop during his round of BP. Still developing power, which should come as he adds strength, Drake produced a peak exit velocity of 93.4 mph in this look. His arm played true across the diamond from a ¾ arm slot, peaking at 85 mph on his loudest throw. Afterwards, Drake hopped on the mound and pitched in the low-to-mid-80s while flashing feel to spin a low-70s breaking ball around the zone. 

+ LHP Ben Goodwin (Shawnee Mission West, 2026) pitched at 79-81 mph with his fastball in this look, topping out at 82 mph. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound lefty also confidently commanded a sweeping slider at 66-68 mph and turned over a low spin changeup at 67-72 mph. He flashed feel to consistently land all three pitches for strikes. 

+ OF/INF Myland Bristow (Blue Springs South) emerged as a name to follow in Missouri’s 2027 class. Bristow displayed a short, simple, stroke that produced a max exit velocity of 97.1 mph - sending his furthest ball 377 feet. Additionally, Bristow ran a 6.99 60, which was the second best time at the event. Defensively, Bristow posted a 87 mph mark from the outfield, second among all outfielders and showcased sure-handed actions on the infield to pair.

+ At 6-foot-1, 225-pounds, C Jackson Lucht (Mill Valley, 2026) is as strong and physical as they come. Lucht put together a loud BP round using a strong right-handed swing with natural lift and 70.8 mph of average bat speed to create an average of 257 feet per batted ball - top at the event. Lucht squared his firmest ball up at 91.9 mph, sending it 328 feet.

+ C/INF Ryan Specht (Blue Valley Southwest, 2025) is a name to know junior to keep an eye on this spring. Standing at 6-foot, 190-pounds, Specht has plenty of room to continue to add strength and power to his frame. He swings a loose, free-flowing right-handed barrel, spraying line drives from gap-to-gap throughout his round of BP. Specht produced a top exit velocity of 98 mph and a peak distance of 367 feet - both top three at the event. Behind the plate, the junior produced a pop time of 1.98-2.12 with a 75 mph top velocity to pair. 

+ C/INF Blake Englehart (DeSoto, 2025) showed plenty of upside in a 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. The uncommitted junior was on the barrel throughout his BP round, producing line drives through the middle of the field and a top exit velo of 94.5 mph. Englehart showed well defensively also, posting a 1.97-2.00 pop time behind the dish and a 80 mph infield velo to pair. 

+ C/OF Ethan Katz (Naples, 2026) put together a well rounded event, impressing on both sides of the ball. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound sophomore showed a powerful, quick stroke at the plate, producing a max exit velocity of 95.6 mph - top 6 in the event. Katz showed off his strength in the field as well, delivering a 80 mph bullet from the outfield.
