Missouri High School Team Rankings: Update (4/22/24)
April 22, 2024
Our rankings are broken up into two divisions: large school and small schools. We classify the 'large' schools as those residing in Class 5 & 6, while the small schools make up the remaining MSHSAA classifications. We rank what we believe to be the top teams in the state at that level, as well as highlighting several 'On Deck' teams.
Make sure to follow along on Twitter at @PrepBaseballMO for all of our high school coverage throughout the spring.
LARGE SCHOOL NOTES
+ There’s a new No. 2, as Rock Bridge (20-5) climbs up four spots after yet another impressive week. The Bruins have been rolling for some time now, impressing us in person at the Columbia Tournament. They picked up three wins this week, all of which came against quality opponents - they beat Helias Catholic to start things off before taking down Francis Howell and Nixa in a double-header on Saturday. Once again, Rock Bridge looks the part of a real contender in the state’s baseball landscape.
+ Liberty North (18-7) bumps up one spot after four wins this week, including a 3-0 showing at the River City Baseball Festival in Kansas. Their offense is as deep and talented as any unit you’ll find in the state, and the performances they’re getting on the mound matches up with what they’re doing at the plate perfectly.
+ Francis Howell (19-7) and Blue Springs (14-9) each fall in this week’s update. The Vikings lost to Francis Howell Central and Rock Bridge, with wins over the Spartans, Parkway Central, and Nixa. Blue Springs played a gauntlet of a schedule, including a 2-2 record at the River City Baseball Festival, with a loss early in the week against Platte County.
+ Willard (19-3) continues to win, picking up three more victories this past week and rising up two spots to No. 8 in this update. They walked off Nixa to start things off before defeating Neosho and Carl Junction.
+ Two teams debut in this update at the 13th and 14th spots, respectively: Glendale (16-4) and SLUH (17-4). Glendale’s won 11 straight games, including a five-win week that included victories over Camdenton, Ozark, Bolivar, Springfield Catholic, and Carl Junction. As for the Jr. Billikens, SLUH swept DeSmet Jesuit in a conference double-header before splitting a two-game set with Parkway West. On the year, they swept CBC, Chaminade, have two wins over St. Dominic, and also have quality wins over two tough Illinois’ opponents.
