With the 2024 high school season under our belt and the summer fully underway, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff has updated the state’s 2027 rankings. We’ve expanded the list to 50 names as we continue to gather information and knowledge on this soon-to-be sophomore group. 

Below you will learn more about a handful of the top prospects in this class, as well as a few names to know that make their debut for the first time. 

+ The top three in our board stays put in the same order as our last update: No. 1 INF/RHP Cole Chambers (SLUH), No. 2 LHP/OF Chase Stieferman (Capital City; Mizzou), and No. 3 Brandon Ott (DeSmet). 

+ INF Max Partney (Hillsboro) rises one spot in this update after an impressive spring. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound left-handed hitter is plenty polished for his age with a clean, rhythmic stroke that consistently finds the barrel to all fields. Partney hit .323 and reached base at a .512 clip in 87 plate appearances for the Hawks, walking more times (16) than he struck out (12) while adding in 12 stolen bases as well. Partney figures to be one of the premier left-handed bats in this class throughout the progression of his high school career. 

+ A pair of high school teammates find themselves in the top-10: OF Adam McKnight (Nixa) and INF Cameron Miller (Nixa). McKnight is a high level three sport athlete; he’s a 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback recruit and is also a standout for Nixa’s basketball program. He saw regular playing time for the Eagles this spring and excelled in his role as a key piece of their offense. Miller has done nothing but trend upward since the start of the summer, turning heads at the National Program Invitational at LakePoint and at the Midwest Premier Super 15 this past weekend. He offers all sorts of upside on a 6-foot-3, 170-pound frame and should be viewed as a must-follow prospect in the class moving forward. 

+ There is a new name inside the top-10 that makes his debut for the first time in this update: OF/LHP Owen Hughes (Rockhurst, 2027). The 6-foot, 165-pound soon-to-be sophomore ran a 6.88 at the Building Champions Scout Day this summer and was also up to 88 mph from the outfield. Afterwards, Hughes hopped on the hill and pumped his fastball in the strike zone in the mid-80s, touching 87 mph on his firmest bullet.

+ Two names outside the top-10 that make their debut for the first time are RHP Evan Magnuson (Platte County) and INF Brady Yates (Glendale). Magnuson, who’s ranked at No. 11 overall, is a long, lanky 6-foot-4, 185-pound athlete with all sorts of upside that’s touched 86 mph with his fastball and flashed feel for a low-70s breaking ball. Yates started in his first year of high school baseball on one of the top teams in Missouri and performed. He swings an ultra-physical right-handed bat that has true middle-of-the-order impact potential.

+ A few other names to know, among many, that positively impacted their high school clubs in their first year of action: 3B/RHP Ryan Dobratz (Liberty-Wentzville), INF/RHP Bode Schenewerk (Jefferson City), OF Michael Wolff (Fort Zumwalt West), and RHP/INF Carter Martin (Warrenton).
