Missouri 2026 Rankings: Update

By: Kevin Moulder & Prep Baseball Staff

With the summer coming to a close, and the fall set to start shortly, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff has once again updated the state’s 2026 rankings. Our expansive knowledge of the state’s incoming junior class has only grown since our last update, with a full summer circuit of showcases, tournaments, and more under our belt.

Below we’ve detailed this update at a more in-depth level, shining some light on the top of the board, as well as a more overarching look at the class as a whole, which you can find by reading below.

THE TOP-10

+ There's a new No. 1 at the top of our rankings with RHP Tyler Putnam taking over the top spot after a huge summer that saw him have several dominant performances against high-level competition, continuing to show some of the highest potential upside in the region. LHP Johnny Carver (Raymore-Peculiar; Arkansas), who owns some of the higher pitchability in the class from the left side, jumps up to No. 8 overall after a productive summer. Additionally, INF Seaton Thompson (Ladue) continues his meteoric rise up our board, vaulting up more than 40 spots to No. 9 overall. Arguably the biggest winner from Team Missouri’s trip to the Future Games, Thompson’s do-it-all ability was on full display throughout the event and he’s one of the premier uncommitted follows in the state.

ON THE RISE…

+ RHP/OF Brody Crane (Neosho) is another high profile name that shot up this list, climbing to 13th overall after several loud showings throughout the summer, including at the Future Games with the ‘Show Me’ state. Crane’s sheer physicality rivals that of any in the state - he regularly produces low-100 exit velocities, drove his furthest ball 406 feet in BP at LakePoint, was up to 92 mph from the outfield, and pitches in the low-90s on the mound with his fastball.

+ There’s no shortage of upside and projection with 6-foot-6, 195-pound RHP Jaxson Joggerst (Eureka), who was another standout name for Team Missouri at the Future Games. After headlining the Wildcats’ staff in the spring, Joggerst’s stuff took a jump in this brief look, pitching in the upper-80s from an ultra-easy, clean, and athletic delivery. Off that, Joggerst spun a tight, short wrinkle slider in the upper-70s as well.

+ OF Devin Freeman (Ladue) earned an invite to the Future Games after a standout showing at the Missouri State Games and climbs within the top-50 on our board this update. The lean, loose-bodied 5-foot-10, 155-pound junior swings an upside right-handed bat with barrel feel and is also a 6.83 runner.

+ RHP Henry Bertoncin (St. Pius X) had always been known to our staff as a polished strike-thrower, though the Kansas City area native saw an uptick in stuff this summer and now comfortably slots inside the top-50 in the class. He was up to 89 mph at Creekside in June, pitching in the mid-to-upper-80s, and consistently spots both his curveball and changeup for strikes.
