Shortly after the event, our staff highlighted several of the day’s top standouts within our traditional ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE

We’ll continue our content stream from this event today within this ‘Takeaways’ story. Below you will learn more about a handful of prospects from this year’s Midwest Mavericks Scout Day that popped to our staff.

TAKEAWAYS

+ INF/C Zac Cannon (Springfield Central, 2025) was one of the biggest winners from this event. A compact athlete with strength, Cannon kicked his day off by running a 6.98 60, which was the day’s third fastest mark. He repeated line drive contact from a fluid right-handed swing with barrel feel that worked gap-to-gap and stayed balanced through contact. Cannon worked quick to release from behind the plate, popping in the 1.89-to-1.96 range, and showed arm strength too, peaking at 78 mph on his firmest bullet from the chute. His arm talent was on display on the infield as well, topping at 84 mph across the diamond.

+ CIF
Quentin Combs (Ozark, 2025) is a physical 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete with bat strength to match his strong-bodied stature. Combs swing works long and uphill to contact, looking to elevate the baseball gap-to-gap. His hardest ball came off his bat at 94 mph and he averaged 246 feet per batted ball with his deepest traveling 355 feet, both of which were event highs.

+ OF
Dominic Licata (Glendale, 2025) sprayed line drives to all fields from a flat, handsy right-handed swing throughout his round. The 6-foot, 175-pound uncommitted outfielder posted a 90 mph max EV and ran a 7.13 60.

+ RHP/OF
Brody Holland (Springfield Central, 2025) fills out the uniform with a physical 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame. Holland led the event in fastball velocity, pumping his heater at 84-85 mph, and his arm strength showed defensively as well; he topped at 87 mph across the infield, while his firmest bullet from the outfield peaked at 88 mph. He looked to lift the baseball in BP, driving his deepest barrel 333 feet to the pull side.

+ RHP
Easton Friesen (Glendale, 2025) is an uncommitted 5-foot-10, 160-pound athlete with a track record of consistently living in the strike zone. Friesen bumped his fastball up to 84 mph, pitching at 82-83 mph, with big bend on a low-60s breaking ball he can flip in for strikes.

+ OF/INF
Gavin Reese (Liberty - Mountain View, 2025) ran the fastest 60 time (6.93) of this event. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound uncommitted soon-to-be senior worked the other way in BP, showed clean actions on the infield, and was up to 84 mph from the outfield as well.

+ MIF Kannon Cordova (Marshfield, 2026) looks the part of a hard-nosed, gamer-type that is able to impact the game positively in multiple ways. He ran the second fastest 60 time of the day (6.95) and peppered line drives in BP from a flat, direct right-handed stroke that doesn’t try to do too much. Defensively, Cordova’s feet are active on the infield and range well to both sides.
