American Legion Scout Day: Takeaways

On Wednesday, June 19th, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff hosted the American Legion Scout Day at St. Charles CC, in Cottleville, MO. This event was open for the 2025-2028 class members.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that take place at the tail end of the summer.

Shortly after the event, our staff compiled a list of the day’s stat leaders within our traditional ‘Stat Story’, organizing several of the day’s top performers from a statistical standpoint into leaderboard format. You can find that by clicking HERE. 

Today we’ll turn our attention to a handful of the day’s biggest winners within these ‘Takeaways’, highlighting a handful of the top prospects that caught our staff’s attention below. 

TAKEAWAYS

+ 3B/C Colton Carrier (Washington, 2026) is a physical, strong-bodied soon-to-be junior that may have been the biggest winner from this event. He repeated line drive contact to the pull-side from a strong, intentful right-handed swing that produced some of the day’s loudest barrels. On average, Carrier impacted the baseball at 89.5 mph, producing a 97.3 mph max exit velocity while his furthest ball traveled 364 feet, and he also drove a different batted ball event 348 feet, per TrackMan. 


+ RHP Timmy Emmons (Winfield) emerged as a noticeable athlete with arm talent to follow in the state’s 2026 class from this event. Emmons paced all arms in attendance from a velocity standpoint, peaking at 87 mph, while pitching at 84-86 mph, and showing late life at times. Emmons flashed a feel for a changeup and curveball mix; the latter played at 69-71 mph with natural fade below the zone, and the former played in the same velocity range with depth to it. 


+ RHP Eli Anderson (Warrensburg, 2025) toes the rubber at a physical 6-foot-3, 200-pounds with feel for a four-pitch mix to pair. The uncommitted soon-to-be senior pitched at 82-84, touching 85 mph, and backspinning it up in the zone at times. Anderson’s changeup, which played at 75-76 mph, had hard run to it, and he spun two differing breaking balls; a 64-68 mph curveball with big bend and depth, and a tighter, laterally spun slider at 70-72 mph. 


+ OF Brody O’Hanlon (St. Francis Borgia) was another 2026 graduate to show well at this event. A lean, upside 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete, O’Hanlon ran the fastest 60 from the event, running a 6.82 on our lasers. At the plate, O’Hanlon kept a level barrel through the zone and sprayed line drives back up the middle of the field throughout. 


+ Coming off a strong string season for District champion St. Francis Borgia, INF Drew Eckhoff (2025) repeated elevated gap-to-gap contact from an uphill right-handed swing. The 6-foot, 170-pound uncommitted soon-to-be senior also ran one of the day’s fastest 60 times (7.00) and paced all infielders in peak throwing velocity (T85 mph) across the diamond. 


+ INF Charlie Morgan (Warrensburg, 2026) sprayed line drives to all fields from a short, simple, and direct right-handed swing that he repeated consistently. Morgan’s hardest ball came off his barrel at 90 mph, though that number should continue to climb as he further fills out a 6-foot, 185-pound frame. Morgan also ran a 7.10 60-yard dash and had the second-highest infield velocity (T84 mph) of the day. 


+ OF Hunter Broad (St. Charles, 2026) is a 6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitter that worked almost exclusively to the pull-side of the field throughout his round of BP. Broad had the second highest average batted distance (254 ft.) from the event and squared his hardest ball up at 93 mph. 

+ INF Lane Mallinckrodt (St. Francis Borgia, 2026) took one of the cleaner rounds of BP from the day, spraying line drives back up the middle of the field from a simple, level, and balanced right-handed swing that was all over the barrel throughout his round. A winner from the St. Louis Summer ID as well, Mallinckrodt is a polished right-handed bat to follow that’s headed into his junior year. 

+ OF/C Baron Odam (Taylorville, 2025) is a long, lean-levered 6-foot-2, 165-pound uncommitted that led all outfielders (T86 mph) and catchers (T74 mph) in throwing velocity from this event. 

+ 1B Josh Koirtyohann (St. Francis Borgia, 2025) is a 6-foot, 220-pound right-handed hitting uncommitted senior that posted a 92.7 mph max exit velocity and elevated his deepest ball 320 feet. Additionally, Koirtyohann had some of the highest hand speed from the event both at peak (23.2 mph) and on average (21.6 mph). 


+ RHP Kristopher Haley (Helias Catholic, 2025) and LHP Dominic Reineke (DeSmet Jesuit, 2026) are two other strike-throwing arms with low-80s fastballs and feel to spin to follow from this event.
