Prep Baseball Report Kansas/Missouri held the Underclass Invitational East at The Sports Barn in Wentzville, Missouri on January 31. Over 75 players in the 2018 and 2019 attended.
In the past several days, we have broken down each position. Today we will take a look at the catcher's performances. Player profiles have been updated with video and stats from the event. Click on each player to see their profile.

Parker Adams, Parkway West, 2019
Adams is a 5-foot-9 150-pound left-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. H ran a 7.71 60 and has an exit velo of 72 mph. At the plate, starts with open stance, minimal load, aggressive to the ball, quick hands, mostly pull line drives in batting practice. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.13 and 2.45, some of top pop times for the event, over the top release, quick footwork with clean exchange, 72 mph positional velo, mostly accurate throws.
Caleb Allmon, Fort Zumwalt South, 2018
Allmon is a 5-foot-10 157-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 7.84 60 and had an exit velo of 74 mph. At the plate, starts in balanced position, smooth load to back leg, in-line stride, pull side line drives, body under control during swing. Behind the plate, pop times in the 2.39 to 2.52 range, high three quarters release, momentum towards target, 68 mph positional velo, mostly accurate throws.
Jacob Bauer, Fort Zumwalt West, 2018
Bauer is a 6-foot-1 181-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 7.95 60 and has an exit velo of 81 mph. At the plate, starts in wide stance, smooth load in back side, some hand load, loose hands, middle to pull approach. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.47 and 2.65, over the top release, fluid footwork, clean exchange, 63 mph positional velo.
Kurtis Byrne, CBC, 2019
Byrne is a 5-foot-11 185-pound right-handed catcher in Missouri’s 2019. Bryne ran a 7.88 60 and had an exit velo of 89 mph, one of the top for the event. At the plate, starts in wide stance, loads into back leg, short stride, quick hands, level path to extension, power to pull side, gap-to-gap approach. Behind the plate, 1.96 to 2.03 pop times, 78 mph positional velo, top velo and pop times for the event, over the top release, quick transfer with quick feet, somewhat accurate throws. Player to watch in 2019 class.
Jacob Crayne, McCluer North, 2018
Crayne is a 5-foot-9 155-pound left-hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 7.59 60 and had an exit velo of 78 mph. At the plate, starts with open stance, controlled body during swing, consistent line drives to pull side, quick bat speed. Behind the plate, pop times in 2.17 to 2.39 range, one of the top pop times of the event, 69 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, quick transfer with fluid footwork, somewhat accurate throws.
Drew Donaldson, St. Charles, 2018
Donaldson is a 6-foot-4 225-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 8.20 60 and has an exit velo of 77 mph. At the plate, starts with wide base, minimal load, short stride, middle to oppo approach. Behind the plate, over the top release, 2.59 to 2.65 pop times, 65 mph positional velo, mostly accurate throws.

At the plate, balanced set up, in line stride with minimal load, loose hands, level bat path to extension, gap-to-gap approach, pull power. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.43 and 2.63, 67 mph positional velo, over the top arm slot, fluid footwork, quick transfer, mostly accurate throws.
Trenton Harlan, Timberland, 2018
Harlan is a 6-foot 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran an 8.20 60 and has an exit velo of 89 mph, one of the best for the event. At the plate, starts slightly open, controlled leg lift, level bat path to extension, solid consistent contact to the middle of the field/pull side, power potential. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.13 and 2.44, some of top pop times for the event, 74 mph positional velo, over the top arm slot, quick feet with momentum towards second, clean transfer, mostly accurate throws.
Vincent Hilboldt, DeSmet, 2018
Hilboldt is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 8.00 60 and has an exit velo of 84 mph. At the plate, has a oppo approach, open stance, in-line stride, quick hands through zone, balanced finish. Behind the plate, 2.21 to 2.34 pop times, 70 mph positional velo, over the top release, hands and feet work together, fluid catch and throw, throws to the first base side of bag.
Chase Hoeber, Liberty (Wentzville), 2019
Hoeber is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.94 60 and has an exit velo of 78 mph. At the plate, open stance, short in-line stride, works middle to pull side of field, loose hands. Behind the plate, over the top arm slot, 2.19 to 2.35 pop times, 73 mph positional velo, arm works, quick feet with clean transfer, mostly accurate throws.
Andrew Keck, Vianney, 2018
Keck is a 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. He ran a 7.37 60 and had an exit velo of 86 mph. At the plate, starts in a wide base, minimal stride, strong and lose hands, worked middle of the field, level path to extension. Behind the plate, 2.18 to 2.32 pop times, some of the best times for the event, 76 mph positional velo, one of the top for the event, over the top release, quick transfer, fluid footwork, somewhat accurate throws.
Michael Long, MICDS, 2019
Long is a 5-foot-11 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.89 60 and has an exit velo of 84 mph. At the plate, starts in athletic position, leg kick, aggressive swing, gap-to-gap approach, quick bat speed. Behind the plate, over the top arm slot, quick transfer with momentum towards second base to throw, mostly accurate throws, pop times between 2.26 to 2.23, 72 mph positional velo.
Frank Lopez, Fort Zumwalt South, 2019
Lopez is a 6-foot 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman. He ran a 7.89 60 and has an exit velo of 77 mph. At the plate, athletic set up, minimal load, short stride, quick and loose hands, uses mostly middle of the field. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.19 and 2.46, some of the best times for the event, 77 mph positional velo, one of the best of the day, high three quarters release, fluid catch and throw, accurate throws.

O’Neal is a 6-foot-1 220-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 7.97 60 and has an exit velo of 89 mph, one of the best for the event. At the plate, balanced set up, minimal smooth load, attacks ball, leg kick, loose hands, level through hitting zone, gap-to-gap approach, power to middle of field. Behind the plate, 2.09 to 2.22 pop times, some of best times for the event, 74 mph positional velo, quick catch and throw, aggressive, momentum towards second, quick feet, accurate throws.
Luke Paulus, Liberty (Wentzville), 2019
Paulus is a 6-foot 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.82 60 and has an exit velo of 82 mph. At the plate, athletic set up, short smooth load, short stride, aggressive swing, quick and loose hands, pull power, solid consistent contact, advanced swing. Behind the plate, 2.20 to 2.34 pop times, 74 mph positional velo, quick catch and throw, feet and hands work together, player to follow in 2019 class.
Zachary Robinson, Fort Zumwalt South, 2019
Robinson is a 5-foot-9 130-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 8.69 60 an has an exit velo of 74 mph. At the plate, athletic set up, smooth load in back leg, no wasted movement, aggressive to ball, level swing, mostly pull line drives. Behind the plate, 2.33 to 2.58 pop times, 67 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, fluid exchange and release, mostly accurate throws.
Tayte Sanders, Liberty (Wentzville), 2019
Sanders is a 5-foot-8 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher. He ran a 8.37 60 and has an exit velo of 71 mph. At the plate, starts in a wide stance, short stride, level bat plane, uses the middle of the field, body under control during swing. Behind the plate, 2.59 to 2.76 pop times, 64 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, somewhat accurate throws.
Joseph Schmidt, St. Francis Borgia, 2019
Schmidt is a physical 6-foot-2 220-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.82 60 and has an exit velo of 90 mph, one of the top RHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, open stance, leg kick, aggressive bat speed, pull power, loose hands. Behind the plate, 2.12 to 2.50 pop times, 75 mph positional velo, pop times and velo among the top for the event, over the top release, aggressive, momentum through towards second base, quick catch and throw, mostly accurate throw, strong, will be a player to follow in 2019 class.
Colin Shreves, Westminster, 2018
Schreves is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher from Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran an 8.21 60 and has an exit velo of 81 mph. At the plate, starts in open stance, reverse toe touch, controlled rhythm, works the middle of the field. Behind the plate, over the top release, 2.21 to 2.53 pop times, 70 mph positional velo, loose arm action, fluid footwork, clean transfer, accurate throws.

Sobotka is a 5-foot-7 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 7.84 60 and has an exit velo of 76 mph. At the plate, simple and repeatable swing, open set up, controlled leg lift and stride, level bat path through zone, gap-to-gap approach. Behind the plate, 2.19 to 2.27 pop times, 75 mph positional velo, one of best catcher velos for the event, over the top release, clean exchange, accurate throws.
Tommy Stevenson, Kirkwood, 2019
Stevenson is a projectable 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 8.21 60 and has an exit velo of 72 mph. At the plate, controlled and smooth rhythm, early and soft stride, mostly pull line drives, body stays under control. Behind the plate, 2.34 to 2.44 pop times, 69 mph catcher velo, over the top release, loose arm action, quick transfer, quick footwork, momentum through the throw, mostly accurate throws.
Alec Talbot, Liberty (Wentzville), 2019
Talbot is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 7.90 60 and has an exit velo of 80 mph. At the plate, thin base in set up, raises leg to in-line stride, mostly pull to middle of the field line drives. Behind the plate, 2.46 to 2.56 pop times, 66 mph positional velo, over the top release, clean exchange, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Woods is a 5-foot-11 190-pound right-handed catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 8.06 60 and has an exit velo of 80 mph. At the plate, starts in open stance, lands in-line with front foot, level path, mostly pull line drives, balanced finish.
