Uncommitted Spotlight: Will Finke

Today, we’ll shine some light on uncommitted senior catcher Will Finke (West Platte), ranked No. 109 in the state’s 2021 class.

Finke attended our Building Champions scout day in June. He’s a strong right-handed hitter with raw bat strength and heavy barrel feel. Defensively, Finke receives the ball with soft hands and has an accurate arm to pair.

2/29/20

 

Will Finke, West Platte (MO), 2021
Positional Profile: C
Body: 5-foot-11, 200-pounds. Durable build.
Defense:  2.00-2.16pop times. Clean transfer leading to quick release, works in line with his target, square blocks, some accuracy on throws.
Arm: RH. C - 74 mph.  Short arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, slight bend in knees, arm-bar load, quick leg lift trigger, short stride.  Bat travels in a long, uphill path through the zone.
Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 8.12 runner in the 60.

Finke is a 5-foot-11 190-pund right-handed hitting catcher Missouri's 2021 class. He ran a 8.26 60 and 4.86 home to first. He had an 81 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced set up, slight weight shift to back side, quiet hands, middle to pull line drives during hitting evals.  Behind the plate, over the top arm slot, clean exchange and throw, pop times between 2.14 and 2.32-seconds, accurate throws.

Finke is a sturdy 5-foot-11 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2021 class.  He ran an 8.10 60, a 5.25 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slight weight shift to back side, some hand load, short in line stride, level bat path.  Behind the plate, fluid actions, over the top arm slot, clean exchange, feet create momentum to throw, pop times between 2.22 and 2.50-seconds, 71 mph positional velocity.

 

 

10/20/18 - Finke is a 5-foot-10, 190-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 8.13 60 yard dash and a 4.96 home-to-first. Finke posted an exit velocity of 76 mph. During batting practice, Finke starts in an athletic stance, even stride, simple load, quiet hands, extension through the baseball, level bat path, sprays the ball to all fields. Behind the plate, Finke has a narrow set up, clean transfers, longer arm action, over the top arm slot, positional velocity of 67 mph, mostly accurate throws and showed pop times between 2.22-2.34 seconds at the event.
