Standing at a lanky, projectable 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame, Sikeston RHP Tyler Gilmer is an intriguing uncommitted senior that we’ll shine some light on today.
Gilmer was amongst the top arms in attendance at our St. Louis Gamers’ Scout Day event back in February, sitting at a lively 85-86 mph and touching 87 mph with his fastball. He showed advanced feel and comfort for an above-average changeup in his ‘pen at that same event - a pitch that pairs well off his fastball.

Positional Profile: RHP Physical right-hander with a lively fastball and feel for changeup; a name to know in this class.
Body: 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. Long, lanky, strong lower half, projectable frame.
Delivery: Feet start balanced towards first base side of rubber, tempo'd side step initiates quick drop/drive type delivery, strong front side, creates extension with long stride, works on line with target, square landing, athletic lower half.
Arm Action: Right-Handed Short arm action, high 3/4 slot; quick arm.
FB: T87, 85-86 mph. Hard, lively action, four-seam type, flashed arm-side run, strikes.
CB: 71-72 mph. Thrown with decelerated arm speed, late break, 11/5 shape.
CH: 77-80 mph. Present arm-side run, worked down in the zone, feel for pitch.
Gilmer is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound, right-handed hitting corner infielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 4.72 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 175 mph. During batting practice, open stance, knee pinch into load, longer but in line stride, big and aggressive swing, high finish with hands, mostly pull side contact during round. Defensively, aggressive to the baseball, clean transfers, momentum towards first base, short arm action, three-quarter release, positional velo of 75 mph, accurate throws. On the mound, Gilmer works from the stretch only, smooth delivery with some rhythm, builds momentum down the mound, works downhill, repeatable delivery, over the top release, loose arm. Fastball sits 76-78 mph, tops as 79 mph, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, slider is sharp at times, chance to be a plus pitch, 66-68 mph at the event, 12-to-6 shape, changeup also has a chance to be a plus pitch, near fastball arm speed, occasional sink, 70-72 mph, located to the bottom of the zone.
2/19/18 - Gilmore is a 5-foot-11 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class had a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts loaded on back side, minimal load and hand movement, no wasted movement, hands control the bat head creating some whip, gap to gap line drives during hitting evals. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.30 and 2.45-seconds, over the top arm slot, fluid footwork and exchange, creates some momentum with feet to throws, mostly accurate throws with carry to the bag. On the mound, Gilmer has an athletic delivery with quick tempo, hands raise with leg lift, slight coil with high leg lift, loose arm action, aggressive in line down the mound, fastball works, 70-75 mph, arm side run at times, curveball at 66-69 mph, 12-to-6 shape, gradual break, change up at 67-69 mph, flashes arms side run, throws with near fastball arm speed, has feel for pitches for age with upside in build.
