October 15, 2012
The 2012 International Power Showcase will be held at Marlins Stadium December 27-30, and feature some top talent from the state of Missouri.
For the third consecutive year, 3B Matt Brown (right, Vianney, committed to University of Arkansas) will be one of four representatives of the Show Me State. Currently ranked No. 10 in the Class of 2013, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Brown has consistently been one of the top players inthe state, regardless of class and has been a staple at top Prep Baseball Report events as well as nationwide events.
Also attending for his third time is left handed, power hitting 1B Dre Gleason (left, Ft. Zumwalt North, committed to Austin Peay). Gleason is one of the top power hitters in the state, and impressed at the first annual Midwest Future Games last year with long, towering drives during batting practice; as well as showing above average fielding mechanics at first base.
RHP Robert Plohr (right, CBC, committed to St. Louis University), will represent the West team during the All American Classic game at the conclusion of the Power Showcase. Plohr features an upper 80's to low 90's fastball with above average off speed pitches to compliment his fastball.
A first time attendee of the Power Showcase is 3B Trey Baur from MICDS (left, Class of 2014). The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Baur hit .328 as a sophomore and should continue to see his stock rise over the next few years. He has a very good approach at the plate, showing the ability to extend through contact and create backspin carry.
