INF Grant Hollister (Blue Springs South; Michigan commit) was one of the biggest winners in the state’s 2024 class this year, starting with an excellent sophomore campaign with the Jaguars. Hollister built off his freshman season, helping lead Blue Springs South to a runner-up finish in the 6A classification. He earned first team all-state honors and, in the process, helped solidify himself as an elite right-handed bat across Missouri.
Following the spring, Hollister popped back up on our radar at the Kansas City Program Invitational in early July. He proved to be one of the tournament’s top prospects, performing in all aspects and gaining high praise from our scouts:
“...Hollister is another high-end prospect in Missouri’s 2024 group on this Royals Scout Team, slotting just outside the top-400 nationally for his class. He packs a punch from a 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame, flashing juice off the barrel from a long right-handed stroke that keeps his barrel in the zone. Hollister’s a sure-handed defender at third base with a strong, accurate arm across the infield. The Blue Springs South standout represented Team Select at the Future Games last year as an underclassman, and he’ll make the trip back to LakePoint again later this month with Team Missouri.”
Hollister, who attended the Future Games with Team Select in 2021, made the trip back to LakePoint this summer as a member of Team Missouri. All he did there was perform, putting together an impressive workout at the event’s start and parlaying that momentum throughout the week. Hollister found the barrel multiple times, including an opposite field home run, and helped pace a Missouri offense that finished the week 2-1. For his efforts, Hollister landed himself on Shooter Hunt’s top prospects from the Future Games:
“...Hitter-hitter-hitter. Hollister capped a breakout summer at the plate with a strong showing at the Future Games including a multi-hit game in Team Missouri’s second game. Built with some compact strength on a 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame, the quick hands and strong wrists stand out, and he utilizes them well at the plate. Hollister loads up on the back side with the hands working freely down and back into a power position before considerable bat speed is seen through the zone with the ability to turn the barrel. There is present power production with even more likely coming in the future, and the hit-tool stands out as one that college coaches will value in their program. Defensively, he profiles at a corner spot, whether third base or in the outfield, but the bat is what is being bet on…and it is a good bet that it will be cashed in on.”
After a productive year, Hollister now finds himself slotted near the top-150 prospects nationally for his class. He’s proven to be a top-tier prospect that always performs in game and is capable of leading a high powered offense - something he’ll do again for Blue Springs South this spring.
