RHP Devin Williams Selected in the 2nd Round of the MLB Draft
June 7, 2013
Standout RHP Devin Williams from Hazelwood West wasn't expected to remain on draft boards for long, and the Milwaukee Brewers with their first pick (54th overall in the second round since they had no first round selection) drafted Williams as a pitcher of the future for thier organization.
Williams was expected to be picked late in the first round to middle part of the second, and should be a prospect who will make a slow but steady climb through the organization, should he sign. As we have reported in the past, Williams has an electric arm with a mid-90s fastball. His offspeed pitches were good enough to retire high school hitters, but will need further development to be effective at the professional level. He has a good feel for the offspeed, and with some fine tuning and small adjustments, has a good chance to have a successful professional career.
Devin Williams is the No. 1 ranked player in the Missouri Class of 2013 and No. 3 over in the combined Prep Baseball Report rankings.
