On Monday, February 15, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the Preseason All-State East Showcase at All-Star Performance in St. Louis, Mo. 

Nearly 60 players from 2017 class participated with another 10-plus from the 2018 and 2019 class.  Profiles have been updated with profile picture, stats and video.  In days to come, we will break down each position, taking a look at the middle infielders performances today. Middle Infielders are listed alphabetically.

Corner Infielders

Hunter Becker, 3B, Chaminade, 2017
Becker is a 6-foot- 180-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 4.22 home to first and has an exit velo of 91 mph, one of top RHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, slightly open stand, in-line stride, quick and loose hands through hitting zone, level bat path, gap-to-gap approach, solid consistent contact.  On the infield, high three quarters release, accurate throws, 81 mph positional velo, athletic actions, quick catch and throw, hands and feet in sync.

Nicholas Cass, 3B, Francis Howell Central, 2018
Cass is a 5-foot-10 165-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 4.76 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 78 mph. At the plate, balanced set up, linear load in legs with leg kick, gap-to-gap approach, mostly middle to pull line drives during batting practice. On the infield, 72 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, arm works from different angles, clean footwork, clean transfer and release.

Brenden Cooper, 1B, Francis Howell Central, 2019
Cooper is a 6-foot-3 165-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class. He ran a 4.33 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 77 mph. At the plate, balanced set up, in-line stride, hands drop with stride, gap-to-gap approach, contact to middle of field.  On the infield, 69 mph positional velo at 1B, high three quarters release, quick catch and throw, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Hayden Cooper, 3B, Holt, 2018
Cooper is a 6-foot-3 175-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 4.62 home-to-first and has an 83 mph exit velo. At the plate, slightly open stance, short stride, quick bat speed, level through zone, loose hands, line drives to pull side. On the infield, 70 mph positional velo, over the top release, long arm circle, quick feet, clean transfer, momentum towards target to throw, accurate throws.

Braden Cox, 3B, Scott City, 2017
Cox is a 6-foot-2 205-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 4.59 home to first and has an exit velo of 83 mph. At the plate, athletic stance, short stride with no wasted movement, short to contact, level to extension, quick bat speed, gap-to-gap power. On the infield, 77 mph positional velo, over the top release, arm works from different slots, quick feet, momentum towards target to throw, accurate throws.

Gregory Daniel, 3B, Webster Groves, 2017
Daniel is a 5-foot-10 180-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class. He ran a 4.94 home to first and has an exit velo of 94 mph, one of top RHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, slightly open and thin base for set up, short in-line stride, quiet hands, aggressive and level bat path, gap-to-gap approach, power to pull gap, solid consistent contact.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velo, over the top release, fluid footwork, clean exchange, arm works, mostly accurate throws.

Kyle Fitzgerald, 3B, Thomas W. Kelly, 2017
Fitzgerald is a 6-foot 190-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 4.84 home to first and has an exit velo of 90 mph, one of top RHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, balanced stance, hands walk away from front side during load, short stride, aggressive hands, solid contact, power potential.  On the infield, over the top release, quick catch and throw , fluid footwork, 78 mph positional velo, accurate.

Kyle Howe, 1B, Fort Zumwalt West, 2017
Howe is a 6-foot-3 190-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 4.53 home to first and has an exit velo of 85 mph. At the plate, starts in balanced position, smooth rhythm, hands work inside ball, middle approach.  On the infield, high three quarters release, 76 mph positional velo at 1B, quick footwork, soft hands, athletic fielding position, accurate throws.

Zack Hunsicker, 3B, Francis Howell, 2018
Hunsicker is a 6-foot-5 225-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 4.44 home to first and has an exit velo of 87 mph. At the plate, balanced stance, no wasted movement in load, short stride, loose hand quick through the zone, pull gap power.  On the infield, loose over the top release, clean exchange with momentum through the catch, 85 mph positional velo, one of top infield velos for the event, accurate throws.

Chandler Jones, 1B, Kickapoo, 2017
Jones is a 5-foot-11 180-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He rean a 4.59 home-to-first and has an exit velo of 88 mph, one of top LHH exit velos for the event. At the plate, open stance, smooth rhythm, hands separate from stride, strong hands create bat whip, body under control during swing, middle approach.  On the infield, 72 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, fluid footwork, quick catch and throw, accurate. 

Brian Kindt, 3B, Marquette, 2017
Kindt is a 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 4.46 home to first and has an exit velo of 93 mph, one of top RHH exit velos for the event.  At the plate, athletic set up, short stride, strong hands, gap-to-gap approach with power to pull gap, solid consistent contact.  On the infield, 79 mph positional velo, over the top release, fluid footwork, quick catch and throw, accurate throws.  Tall and lean frame able to add strength as he develops.

Carter Mize, 1B, Fort Zumwalt West, 2017
Mize is a 6-foot-2 159-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.   He has an 80 mph exit velo and runs a 4.34 home to first. At the plate, starts with wide stance, short stride, no wasted movement, level path to extension, has bat whip, gap-to-gap approach.  On the infield, 77 mph positional velo at 1B, loose over the top arm action, active feet gaining momentum to throw, plays through ball, accurate throws. 

Tyler Nord, 1B, Parkway North, 2017
Nord is a 5-foot-11 185-pound left-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 4.63 home to first and has an exit velo of 80 mph.  At the plate, simple and repeatable swing, no wasted movement in load, hits with leverage in back side, quick hands through the zone, mostly pull side line drives during batting practice.  On the infield, 69 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, quick catch and throw, somewhat accurate throws. 

Tyler Shylanski, 1B, Waterloo (IL), 2017
Shylanski is a 6-foot-2 210-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Illinois’ 2017 class.  He ran a 4.42 home-to-first and had an exit velo of 85 mph. t the plate, slightly open stance, in-line stride, linear move through contact, mostly line drives to middle of the field with power to pull gap. On the infield, 73 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, quick footwork, arm works, accurate throws.
