Craig Straws (Liberty, 2016) was an Honorable-Mention All-State selection in Class 5 a season ago, leading the Blue Jays to a 28-5 record. In the summer of 2014, Straws represented Missouri at the PBR Future Games.
The left-handed hitting, right-handed throwing outfielder ran a 6.75 60 at the Class of 2016 Games in June, and has been recorded at 4.18 down the line.
At the plate, Straws starts with an athletic stance, and loads into back leg with toe touch. He has a level path to extension, and stays inside ball with a gap-to-gap approach. He has an 89 mph exit velo. Defensively, he has quick feet, working gets behind ball and playing through the catch. He has an over-the-top release with a fluid exchange, registering an 82 mph velo.
Currently, Straws is playing fall baseball and attending college visits. Below is a look inside the recruiting process for Craig Straws.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Straws: Computer architecture programs and or Broadcasting
PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will play a key role for Liberty in 2016.
Straws: I batted .388 from the four-hole and awarded defensive player of the year in the outfield. Key players will be Joe Kinder, Brandon Green, and Justin Vochatzer. Liberty High School lost the district championship last year. We ended at 28-5.
PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?
Straws: Senior season we hope to get back to the district title game and make a state run.
PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Straws: I play for the KC Bullets
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Straws: Basketball
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
Straws: I have an ACT score of 24 and my GPA is 3.3
