PBR MO Uncommitted Spotlight: INF Edward Uschold
October 9, 2022
With the fall season coming to a close, our staff will take some time to highlight several uncommitted prospects over the next few weeks as we prepare to enter the baseball off-season and throughout. These players have all impressed our staff recently, whether it be at events, tournaments, or other up-close looks via our boots-on-the-ground coverage.
Today, we'll shine some light on INF Edward Uschold (Parkway South, 2023), who's a name our scouts have become increasingly familiar with throughout this calendar year. Following a productive spring season, Uschold attended our St. Louis Top Prospect Upperclass Games, where he was amongst the top right-handed bats at the event. Our scouts had this to say about his performance at Maryville this June:
"...was another prospect that showed advanced bat strength at the plate in BP. He generated easy juice off his barrel and backspun baseballs into the pull-side gap, peaking at 94.9 mph with a 322 foot max. Uschold ran a 7.08 60-yard dash at his size and topped at 82 mph on the infield, one of the day’s highest marks."
Most recently, Uschold caught our attention at the Battle for The Arch, held in late September at GCS Ballpark. This invite-only event featured uncommitted 2023 and 2024 prospects from both Illinois and Missouri, and Uschold yet again showed out as one of the top prospects in attendance. A quick nugget on his performance there:
"...is another name-to-know uncommitted senior from this event. Built at a sturdy 6-foot-1, 192-pounds with room to tack on muscle, Uschold blasted the day’s hardest hit ball, screaming one off his barrel at 99.2 mph without much effort. His furthest batted ball traveled 366 feet, amongst the day’s best, and his ability to repeat a relatively loose right-handed swing is evident. Uschold projects as a middle-of-the-order type bat at the next level who’s still on the market."
Following an all-around strong circuit this year, and never failing to impress our scouts, Uschold slots in at No. 86 overall on our state's 2023 rankings. He's one of the top uncommitted prospects on the market in Missouri's senior class.
