PBR MO Uncommitted Spotlight: Charlie Mussorici
October 27, 2022
With the fall season coming to a close, our staff will take some time to highlight several uncommitted prospects over the next few weeks as we prepare to enter the baseball off-season and throughout. These players have all impressed our staff recently, whether it be at events, tournaments, or other up-close looks via our boots-on-the-ground coverage.
Today we'll shine some light on RHP Charlie Mussorici (Liberty, 2023), one of the top arms in the state's senior class. Mussorici was a standout arm at two different events this fall - the Missouri Fall Upperclass Games and the Battle for The Arch. He started his ascent up the 2023 rankings in Columbia on September 11th, stealing the show as arguably the top arm in attendance amongst a talented crop of prospects. Our scouts had this to say about his showing on that day:
"...pumped the day’s hardest fastball, reaching back for an 89 mph high with his fastball, pitching in the mid-80s throughout his two innings of work. Mussorici averaged 2,442 RPM on his heater, peaking at 2,598 RPM, and showed a similar aptitude to spin his curveball; a low-70s offering that averaged 2,580 RPM with a 2,766 RPM peak. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Mussorici is one of the top uncommitted arms in Missouri and certainly showed power arm potential on the mound."
He then made the trip to Sauget and adequately represented Team Missouri at the Battle for The Arch. Mussorici twirled a clean frame, ripping off a swing-and-miss slider again with a mid-to-high-80s fastball Here's his report from that day:
"...has been an arrow-up uncommitted arm throughout the fall and continued to show power stuff potential in brief stints last night. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, Mussorici spun the day’s highest breaking ball of the event, averaging nearly 2,400+ RPM on the pitch with a 2,424 RPM max. He pounded the zone with a mid-to-high-80s fastball as well, comfortably working to the arm-side corner of the plate in particular. Mussorici is an athletic arm with dynamic potential and remains one of the top pitching prospects in the state’s 2023 class that’s still on the market."
