Trey Turner (Neosho HS), one of the most versatile 2014 prospects in Missouri, has committed to Crowder College in his hometown Neosho. The 6-foot Turner, who’s ranked No. 19 in Missouri and 162 overall, has top-level arm strength on the mound, behind the plate and in the outfield.
Turner excels at multiple positions. On the mound, he pitches in the upper-80s, and has been up to 91 at times. As a junior, he tallied 58 strikeouts in 42.2 innings with a 1.80 ERA. On April 6, he threw a perfect game against McDonald County, and finished the season by throwing nine consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
Positionally, Turner has been clocked at 84 mph from the crouch behind the plate and in the 90s from the outfield. Turner finished his junior year hitting .402 with five doubles, four triples, five home runs and 23 stolen bases. Turner, who ran a 6.97 60 at a past PBR event, was a member of Team Missouri at the Midwest Future Games two years ago.
