Midwest Premier Super 17 All Tournament Team

Andy Urban
OK/MO/KS Scouting Supervisor

The Midwest Premier Super 17 was hosted at Creekside Baseball on June 24th through June 28th. The event featured arguably the most talented collection of 2022 grads at any tournament this summer. Thirteen different states were represented a the event, many by the top programs. The event saw numerous eye popping individual performances from a pure talent and stat line perspective. Though it was incredibly difficult to narrow down, after scouring the numbers and performances at the event, we have put together an all tournament team. Walking away with MVP honors was C Dylan Bargo (Omaha Westside) for the tournament champions NE Prospects.

We had the event covered with three PBR scouts covering games all day. Find all the coverage from @PBRHood, @PBR_Moulder, and @PbrUrban, some of the top highlight at @CreeksideBase, or find it all by searching #Super17

Tournament MVP

Dalton Bargo C / 3B / Omaha Westside , NE / 2022

Top Stats: 2 HR, 11 H, .611 BA, 11 RBIs.

It seemed like every time there was a runner was in scoring position and Bargo at the dish, he delivered for NE Prospects posting 11 RBIs on the weekend. The left-handed hitting catcher showed the ability to drive the ball gap-to-gap while still staying on off-speed pitches which he saw a stead diet of all weekend.

Pitchers

Michael Mulhollon LHP / Westosha Central, WI / 2022

Top Stats: .45 BA Against, 85.4 Avg Velo, 15 K’s, 7 IP, .57 Whip, 15 K/7, 60% Swing & Miss

The Wichita state commit provided the most dominant pitching performance of not only of the tournament but of the summer at Creekside to this point. It was swing and miss after swing and miss in the complete game shut out. At 6-foot-4 205-pounds, an clean arm actions, and a delivery that the left-hander consistently repeats, expect much more to come from Mulhollon.

Braden Sweet LHP / OF / Millard South , NE / 2022

 Top Stats: .216 BA Against, 2.61 ERA, 18 K’s, 10.1 IP

The 6-foot, 180-pound left-hander didn't show off his best velo in his two starts in the tournaments, pitching in the low 80s, but he did keep hitters off balanced with two different breaking balls and mixed the fastball to both sides of the plate. Sweet was able to keep a red hot Elite offense at bay in the semi-finals.

Collin Amsden 1B / RHP / Marist, IL / 2022

Top Stats: 9 Innings, 3 Hits, 13 K’s, 3 Walks, 0 Runs Allowed

The durable and strong 6-foot-2, 225-pound two-way prospect shined on the mound for the Sparks in the Super 17. The right-hander featured a mid-80s fastball and pounded the zone through 9 innings punching out 13 and only walking 3. Amsden works from a controlled delivery with a very short arm action allowing him to repeat his delivery and execute pitches with regularity.

Jake Daneff SS / RHP / Park Hill, MO / 2022

Top Stats: Stats: 6 IP, 10 K’s, 1 ER, 2 Hits, 2 Walks, .095 BA Against, 87.1 Avg FB Velo, .67 Whip

One of the top uncommitted two-way prospects in the country, Daneff really impressed on the mound for the Prodigy. The athletic right-hander has much more room to add size and strength and should see his velo continue to rise in the near future.

First Base

Braden Reel 3B / 1B / Guerin Catholic , IN / 2022

Top Stats: 8 Hits, 5 Dbl, 6 Walks, 6 RBIs, .533 BA, .522 OB%, 1.169 Ops

The right-handed hitter shows elite bat speed with natural lift in his swing to go along with a knack for finding barrels that he showed at the Super 17. Reel consistently drove the ball to the wall against quality arms. At a lean 6-foot, 190-pounds, Reel still has plenty of room to continue to add strength and continue his development into a true power hitter.

Middle Infield

Camdin Jansen SS / RHP / Racine Lutheran, WI / 2022

Top Stats: .833 BA, .867 OB%, 1.417 Slug, 2.284 Ops, 5 XBH, 10 Hits, 7 RBI

Jansen posted a jaw dropping batting average on the weekend with power numbers and RIBs to boot, and was one of the big reasons Hitters White was in the winners bracket. A middle of the field and flat approach with the ability to go to all fields when pitched in and out. Jansen shows plenty of arm strength to stay on the left-side of the infield, but could play a corner spot in the outfield as well. Packed with strength already, Jansen still has room to add the his 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame and could really produce in the middle of the order at the next level.

James Reese RHP / SS / University School of Milwaukee, WI / 2022

 Top Stats: 11 Hits, 9 RBI, .611 BA, .650 OB%, .833 Slug, 1.483 Ops

More know for his arm on the mound, Reese showed he was a real two-way prospect at the Super 17 by posting 11 hits. Reese shows a short and efficient swing with some strength from the right side staying on plane to find barrels.

Third Base

Cameron Decker 3B / SS / Evansville North, IN / 2022

Top Stats: 7 Hits, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 8 BB, .375 BA, .583 OB%, .750 Slug, 1.333 Ops

Decker is a threat to leave the yard every time he steps in the box and opposing pitchers knew it. Decker went big fly three times but was also walked 8 times a pitchers tried to keep the ball in play. The right-handed hitter shows real power and the intent to do damage every time he comes to the plate.

Outfield

Kaden Griffitts OF / LHP / Williamsville , IL / 2023

Top Stats: 9 Hits, 4 RBIs, .529 BA, .529 OB%, .667 Slug, 1.196 Ops

Griffitts continues to hit at Creekside. After having a big summer last year, the left-handed continues to find barrel with an athletic swing and barrel control. Look for Griffitts to continue to climb and have a big future games.

Hayden Mileski OF / 3B / Lakeville South, MN / 2022

Top Stats: 5 Hits, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 4 Walks, .566 BA, .692 OB%, 1.571 Slug, 2.263 Ops

The Tulane commit has shortened his swing since we saw him last summer , but still get the barrel to the ball with enough pop to leave the yard thanks to hand speed, strength and some quick twitch athleticism.

Tristan Ott OF / RHP / Oconomowoc, WI / 2022

Top Stats: 8 hits, 2 2B, 4 RBIs, .500 BA, 1.10 OPS

Ott came in clutch a few different times for the Hitters Navy squad on the weekend, The right-handed hitter keeps the barrel in the zone a long time with a flat swing through extension and uses his long levers to create some pop.

Utility

Jackson Herbel 2B / SS / Basehor, KS / 2022

Top Stats: 8 Hits, 2 2B, 4 RBI, 1.167 OPS, .500 BA,

One of the quickest rising '22s in KS Herbel has put on some size and strength and is showing that he can be a real difference maker on both sides of the ball at the next level. Herbel played all around the infield in the tournament showing off athleticism that will likely allow him to stay at short at the next level. Offensively, the right-handed hitter is showing feel and barrel control with some sneaky pop.
