Midland Springfield Scout Day: Quick Hits & Stat Story

By: Diego Solares
Area Scout, Illinois & Missouri

On Sunday, January 29th, the PBR Missouri staff traveled to Nixa, MO, to host the Midland Springfield Scout Day at the CY Sports Center. Roughly 20 players from the Midland Springfield travel organization participated in a pro-style workout in front of our staff, displaying their talents to our scouts while gathering verified metrics in the process.

We'll be rolling out several post-event content pieces, starting with this 'Quick Hits' and 'Stat Story' article. Below you'll find which names impressed our staff in this look, as well as the prospects who paced their peers across our statistical categories.

QUICK HITS

+ C/OF Teagan Trent (Logan-Rogersville, 2026) emerged as a name-to-know in the state's freshman class in his PBR event debut. A 5-foot-10, 160-pound prospect with physical projection, Trent used the whole field in BP and repeated line drive contact from a loose, athletic right-handed swing. The most impressive part of his workout came defensively, where Trent's pop times ranged from 1.96-2.08 while accurately working on the bag from a short, quick arm slot. He looked the part catching 'pens as well with soft hands, steady wrists, and a willingness to chest up the baseball. Trent has a complete profile capable of contributing positively in multiple ways on the diamond, and he's one to watch as his freshman campaign kicks off shortly.

+ CIF Jeremiah Richards (Home School, 2025) is a physical 6-foot-2, 210-pound sophomore that consistently found the barrel with authority during BP. He swung a fast right-handed bat with intent and aggression, generating high exit velocities both on average and at peak (93.3 mph). Richards ended his round with six straight batted balls at 90+ mph, further reiterating his ability to regularly generate hard contact.

+ CIF/RHP Desmond White (Branson, 2026) was another physical prospect to follow from this event. Built at a strong 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, White worked deep into the opposite field gap throughout batting practice, including six balls that traveled more than 290 feet, per TrackMan. White also generated one of the day's firmest batted balls, peaking at 91.3 mph on his hardest barrel. He hopped on the mound later on in his workout, topping at 79 mph while spinning a 2500+ RPM curveball at 64-68 mph.

+ Two projectable frames to follow from this event: INF Charlie Greer (Logan Rogersville, 2025) and UTL Blaize Thompson (Glendale, 2025). Greer, who's hit a significant growth spurt since the fall, really looks the part in a uniform. He flashed pull-side power in BP when extended and is likely to tick up in the power department as he continues to gain feel for his frame. Thompson stands at a long, lanky 6-foot-3, 145-pounds with plenty of room to fill out physically as well. He flashed some barrel feel in BP and intrigued on the mound as well, spinning a tight slider around the zone.
