Kansas Underclass Games: Corner Infielder Analysis

Prep Baseball Report - Kansas held the Kansas Underclass Games at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas on Tuesday, June 5. Over seventy players attended in the 2020-2021 class.
Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos. Today will take a closer look at the corner infielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.
The corner infielders included four players with a 7.16 60 or better, one player recorded a sub-seven 60 time. Six players recorded an infield velo of 78 mph or better and six players had an 85 mph exit velocity or better. One player was over 90 mph on exit velocity.
Corner Infielders
Bryan Bartels RHP / 1B / Olathe West, KS / 2021Bartles is a physical 6-foot-1 180-pound right-handed hitting infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.44 60 and a 4.56 home to first. He has an 83 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a thin and slightly open stance, controlled leg kick with accelerated swing, quick and loose hands, showed power to pull side, gap to gap line drives in hitting evals. On the infield, 82 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, athletic footwork to the ball, quick transfer, collects feet to gain momentum to throw, mostly accurate throws. |
Brady Beverman 3B / RHP / Olathe South, KS / 2021Beverman is a 6-foot- 180-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 8.03 60 and a 5.00 home to first. He has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slight pre swing rhythm in lower half with weight shift to load, consistently barreled up line drives to the middle of the field and pull gap during hitting evals. On the infield, 77 mph positional velocity, stays under control with smooth actions, clean exchange with fluid footwork, high three quarters arm slot, mostly accurate throws. |
Clint Chappell RHP / SS / Mill Valley , KS / 2020Chappell is a powerful 6-foot-5 215-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 7.39 60 and a 5.19 home to first. He has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with balanced stance, in line stride, attacks ball with with minimal load, level path, slight arm bar, showed power to the pull gap with mostly middle of the field and pull side line drives. On the infield, high three quarters arm slot, 76 mph positional velo, clean exchange on time fluid momentum in feet, plays through the ball, accurate throws. |
Brennan Connell RHP / 3B / Olathe West , KS / 2021Connell is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 7.44 60 and a 4.72 home to first. He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load with weight shift to back side to load, accelerates aggressively to the ball, quick hands, short to contact, slight lift to end of bat path, solid contact gap to gap during hitting evals. On the infield, 80 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw from a high three quarters arm slot, quick to the ball with footwork, maintains momentum through the catch, accurate throws. |
Michael Daggett RHP / C / Paola, KS / 2020Daggett is a 5-foot-11 140-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2020 class. He ran a 7.26 60 and a 4.56 home to first. He has a 76 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with open stance, slight hand load with toe tap, in line stride, balanced swing with leverage, level path, consistent line drives gap to gap, feel for the barrel. He has an 80 mph exit velocity. At the plate, smooth pre-pitch rhythm in hands and lower half, thin and slightly open stance, level swing path, quick bat speed, swing produced middle to pull side line drives during hitting evals.
