JUCO Uncommitted Spotlight - Brayden Luikart

Freshman LHP/OF Brayden Luikart is in the midst of an impressive campaign to open his college career for Johnson County. In 50 games played, Luikart has tallied 50 hits while slashing .339/.468/.534. Luikart does a great job setting the table in the two spot of the Cavaliers lineup, tallying 36 walks with only 21 strikeouts. He has shown some power as well with 16 doubles, 3 triples and 4 home runs along with 36 RBI. He’s also shown off the other tools, swiping 11 bags in 15 attempts and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 1 outfield assist.

While Luikart hasn’t seen any action on the mound this season, he showed off a fastball and curveball at the Johnson County CC Scout Day last fall. The lefty topped at 87.6 mph with his fastball and featured a 71.6-73 mph curveball with an above average spin rate of 2352 rpm. Luikart also showed off a 6.84 60 time and a max exit velo of 97.6 mph.

Luikart has an impressive hit tool and potential in his arm that will have him make an impact at the next level.

Luikart is an athletic 6-foot, 173-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. He ran a 7.14 second 60 and 4.46 home-to-first. At the plate, 90 mph exit velocity, advanced approach at the plate, controls the barrel, quick hands, aggressive swing with good body control, showed hard contact with some lift throughout round and pop to right field. Defensively, Luikart has good actions in the outfield, works behind the baseball, quality routes to the ball, quick arm, loose arm action, three-quarter release, positional velo of 79 mph, carry to the baseball, accurate throws.
