Inside the 2020 Rankings: Uncommitted Left-Handed Pitchers

After a long summer and fall of tournaments and showcases, here is an inside look at Missouri's 2020 Rankings. Today, we take a look at available left-handed pitchers in the 2020 class from around the Show Me State.
2020 LEFT HANDED PITCHERS
Blake Leadford LHP / OF / CBC, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 37 / POS: 7
Leadford is a 6-foot 152-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Leadford has a loose arm action with quick arm speed, throws with some effort and accelerated tempo, repeats a simple delivery, body stays under control, lands in line and finishes in fielding postion, fastball has late life with slight running action, 81-84 mph, breaking ball showed sharpness and command, 70-71 mph, good feel for change up at 67-68 mph. |
Kaydon Patrick LHP / Staley, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 80 / POS: 10
Patrick is a stalky and strong 5-foot-11, 185-pound, left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Simple delivery, starts with a slower tempo and gains momentum as he works to home plate, max effort, aggressive lower half, short arm action, over the top release. Fastball sits 81-84 mph, around the strike zone, occasional arm side run, curveball is 70-71 mph, 12-to-6 shape, late downward action, slider is 72-73 mph, changeup is 75-77 mph, arm side run, near fastball arm speed. |
Clayton Schneider LHP / OF / Rock Bridge, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 81 / POS: 11
Schneider is an athletically built 6-foot 150-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Schneider has a clean delivery with smooth tempo, arm works with over the top arm slot, loose arm action, repeats well, simple and athletic with pitchability, fastball touched 80 mph, working mostly 77-79 mph, throws to both sides of the plate with command, 2-to-8 breaking ball, 63-65 mph, late action, down in the zone, swing and miss pitch, controllable change up at 68-69 mph, slight sink, expect increases in velo to go along with clean delivery and command. |

6-Foot-2, 189-Pound frame, square build with present strength, high 3/4 slot, quick arm, short arm action, good balance point, easy effort, open toe land, repeats delivery, fastball 81-85 mph, downhill with straight action, controlled for strikes, curveball 66-69 mph, 1-7 shape, sharp action, downer break, late action, fastball arm speed, change up 73-74 mph, fastball arm speed, arm side run, controlled in zone, feel for pitch. |
Mason Carr LHP / OF / Central , MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 104 / POS: 13
Carr is a 6-foot-2 170-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Carr is a tall and lean with long limbs, still more physical development to come, keeps hands high in delivery, simple and controlled leg lift, in line down the mound, comes from a high three quarters arm slot, fastball showed slight late run, 78-80 mph, curveball has 2-to-8 shape with gradual break, change up flashed sinking action, 69-72 mph, throws with near fastball arm speed. |
Charlie Roder LHP / 1B / Rockhurst, MO / 2020Rankings StateRank: 134 / POS: 14
Roder is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound left-handed pitcher and first basemen in Missouri’s 2020 class from Rockhurst HS. He ran a 4.69 home-to-first and showed an exit velocity of 79 mph. During batting practice, Roder showed an open stance, knee pinch into his load and a high finish with hands. Defensively, Roder moves well, clean arm action and transfers, positional velo of 78, very accurate throws. On the mound, Roder has some rhythm to his delivery, works downhill, flashes his glove side for deception, ¾ arm slot, easy arm action, fastball sat 72-76 mph for strikes, slight arm side run, changeup is 66-71 mph, arm side run, slider showed late life, 1-to-7 shape, 64-70 mph. |
