Game Notes: No. 14 Francis Howell Central upsets No. 8 Vianney

Francis Howell Central HS: No. 14 Francis Howell Central came out swinging, jumping out to a 10-0 lead and defeating No. 8 Vianney 11-4 on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game. Central starting pitcher Clayton Luley picked up the win (5-1 on the season), throwing four and two thirds innings giving up two hits and two earned runs, both in the fifth inning. Howell Central improves their record to 16-3-1 while Vianney falls to 16-5, the teams have split their two meetings this season.
- Leadoff hitter CF Josh Wade led Francis Howell Central with three RBIs, all coming on two out hits with runners in scoring position. Wade hit a two RBI double to deep left center field in the third inning and a RBI single in the fourth. Wade finished the day with three hits.
- 2B Austin Boden reached base four times on the afternoon, with two singles, a double and a walk. Boden scored three runs, leading the Howell Central offense.
- C Jake Henson and RF Zach Isham each collected two hits.
- Vianney scored their four runs all in the fifth inning on only two hits, LF Petey Spradlin collected one of those hits, with two RBIs.
- The win was Francis Howell Central’s seventh in a row, and through twenty games, they allowed only fifty-nine runs, an average of just over three runs a game. In their sixteen wins, Central has not given up more than five runs in the contest.
