The Fall Prospect ID Showcase on November 11th at St. Charles Community College had a good blend of unsigned seniors, as well as up and coming underclassmen, many who made a lasting impression.

With blustery wind conditions during the day, the players stepped up despite the elements to show their skills and aid in their recruiting process.

Today we take a look at Top Performers from the event: 
1. Cory Lubinski, SS, Pattonville HS, Class of 2013:
Lubinski is a lanky 6-foot-1, 170-pound unsigned senior, who after his performance shouldn’t remain unsigned for long. Lubinski ran an event best 6.77 60. In the field, Lubinski showed a good approach to the ball with body control and soft hands, a quick transfer, and range to his backhand and glove hand side. He has a strong, accurate arm across the diamond, with a top throw of 83-mph. At the plate, Lubinski has a slightly open stance with a short stride. He maintains balance through his swing, with a long bat path and level swing, driving the ball on a line to all fields, and some flashes of power to left center field.

 

2. Blake Wellinghoff, RHP, Francis Howell Central, Class of 2013:
The unsigned senior Wellinghoff has an extremely projectable 6-foot-7, 210-pound frame and showed feel for three pitches. Coming from a high ¾ arm slot with some good rhythm, Wellinghoff showed good down hill action off the mound . His fastball sat 84-85 mph, topping at 86 with more in the tank. His two seam fastball seemed to be more consistent with late, hard action. He also showed a sharp 11-to-5 breaking ball (73-74 mph) and a 65-68 mph change up with arm side run. With some more use of his lower half and a longer stride, Wellinghoff should see an increase in velocity.

 

3. Matthew Jones, 1B, Vianney, Class of 2014:
Jones is a strong-bodied 5-foot-11, 235-pound player who impressed with his raw strength at the plate. At the plate, Jones showed off an aggressive, powerful right-handed swing using a strong lower half and barrel whip through the zone. Every ball hit hit was on the barrel, with back spin carry and loft, putting on a display of power.  In the field, Jones moves well around the bag, with soft hands and accurate throws to second base. Jones has the potential to be a power bat in the Class of 2014.

 

4. Justin Gellman, 3B, Clayton HS, Class of 2015:
Gellman is a solidly built and projectable 6-foot-1, 198 pound third baseman who has the tools and ability to be a top ranked Class of 2015 player. At the plate, Gellman has a slightly crouched stance with a short stride and balance through his swing. With his strong lower half, Gellman generates fast bat speed and barrel whip through the zone with a level swing, extension through contact and a slightly uphill finish. He drove the ball hard on a line to the left side with backspin carry.  At third base, Gellman moves well to the ball with a good approach and a quick glove to hand transfer while delivering accurate throws across the diamond (75-78 mph). Additionally, Gellman ran a 7.54 60 and posted the top exit velo of 88-mph.

 

5. Cole Donaldson, C/MIF, Francis Howell North, Class of 2014:
Donaldson is a 5-foot-11, 160-pound player who showed versatility behind the plate and in the field. Behind the plate, he received with a stiff wrist and soft hands, sticking ball in all parts of the strike zone. He showed good body control and natural instincts while blocking, quickly finding the ball. Donaldson also showed quick feet and a quick clean exchange with accurate 1.91-1.94 pop times (73-79 mph). In the infield, Donaldson moves well to the ball with range, showing soft hands and a quick transfer, delivering at top throw of 79-mph across the infield. At the plate, Donaldson has a balanced stance and showed the ability to keep his hands inside the ball with extension through contact, hitting the ball gap to gap. Donaldson also showed some speed, posting a 7.01 60.

 

6. John Ceriotti, MIF, SLUH, Class of 2014:
Ceriotti is an athletic 6-foot-1, 165-pound middle infielder who showed sure hands at short stop with good footwork to the ball and a quick transfer. He also showed good range to his glove hand side, while delivering accurate 73-77 mph throws across the diamond from a ¾ arm slot. At the plate, Ceriotti has a slightly crouched stance with a long stride and rhythm in his swing. He gets his front foot down quickly and generates quick bat speed through the zone with a level swing and uphill finish. He showed the ability to pull the ball, consistently hitting it hard. Additionally, Ceriotti showed some speed running a 7.28 60.

 

7. Jared Lengancher, RHP, Waterloo (IL), Class of 2013:
The projectable 6-foot-2, 186-pound Lengancher showed lots of moement on all three pitches he threw. Coming from a ¾ arm slot, Lengancher showed quick arm speed with short back arm action. His heavy fastball sat 81-83 mph, topping at 84-mph with arm side run and sink. He also showed fastball arm speed on his breaking ball with sharp 10-to-4 movement (68-72 mph), potentially an out pitch with some more consistency. Lengancher also threw a 75-78 mph split finger fastball (75-78 mph) with late sink and some arm side movement.

 

8. Eric Huenke, OF, Francis Howell, Class of 2014:
Huenke has shown progression throughout his participation in PBR showcase events, with his latest performance his best so far. In the outfield, the 6-foot, 175-pound Huenke showed good instincts to the ball, taking aggressive routes and showing fundamental mechanics. All of his throws were on a line to his target, with a top throw of 78-mph. At the plate, Huenke shows a repeatable left-handed swing, with good rhythm, loose hands and good bat control. He takes a short path to the ball with extension through contact driving the ball gap-to-gap. Additionally he ran a 7.37 60 and had an exit velo of 81-mph.

 

9. Tyler Jennings, MIF, Rockwood Summit HS, Class of 2013:
Jennings is a lanky 6-foot-1, 160-pound outfielder who impressed with his overall ability. At the plate, Jennings has an athletic stance with a smooth load and balance through his swing. He takes a short part to the ball with extension through contact, showing some pull side power. In the infield, Jennings shows a good approach to the ball, with soft hands and some range to his forehand side. Additionally, Jennings ran a 7.09 60 and has one of the top exit velos off the bat at 81-mph.

 

10. Dylan Barstow, OF, Ladue HS, Class of 2014:
Barstow is a speedy 6-foot, 155-pound outfielder who recorded the second fastest 60 time of the event, a 6.99. His speed translated well to his play in the outfield, moving quickly to the ball, with a top throw of 75-mph. While he moved well to the ball, he slowed his momentum as he approached the ball. If he maintains his momentum and plays through the ball, he should see a spike in velocity. At the plate, Barstow take a slightly uphill path to the baseball, with the ball consistently finding the barrel of the bat spraying line drives gap to gap.

 

11. Colin Pecoraro, OF, Ft. Zumwalt West, Class of 2015:
Pecoraro is a strong-bodied 5-foot-11, 170-pound outfielder who impressed with a powerful left handed swing. At the plate, Pecoraro has a slightly open stance with a smooth load. He shoed quick hands and looseness in his swing, producing barrel whip through the zone and driving the ball with backspin carry to the right side of the field. In the outfield, Pecoraro moves well to the ball with an accurate arm to his targets. His top throw was 77-mph, and if he played through the ball a bit more, there are a few more miles per hour in his throws. Pecoraro has the potential to be a top power hitter in the Class of 2015 as he continues to progress.

 

12. Kennedy Lowe, MIF, Francis Howell Central, Class of 2013:
Lowe is an athletic 5-foot-8, 160-pound middle infielder who impressed with his smooth fielding mechanics. Lowe showed a fluid footwork with a good approach to the ball, with soft hands, and quick transfer and played through the ball with accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, Lowe is very quite in the box, with good rhythm and a short compact swing, working the middle of the field with hard line drives and ground balls. Lowe looks to be a quality No. 1 or No. 2 batter in the line up with his ability to put the ball in play. Additionally, Lowe ran a 7.32 60.
