On Friday, October 11th, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff traveled to CarShield Field in O'Fallon, MO to host the 5 Star - The Lou Scout Day. This event, featured 40+ players from the 5 Star - The Lou program in attendence.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 4 names that popped to our staff from Friday's trip to O'Fallon.

   

QUICK HITS

+ RHP/INF James Kline (Troy Buchanan, 2026) came away from this look as a winner on the mound. The 6-foot, 165-pound junior showed plenty of arm strength with more in the tank,  running his fastball up to an event-high 84.7 mph while comfortably commanding the zone at 82-84 mph. Off of that fastball, Kline spun a slider at 69-71 mph while also turning over a changeup with 15.1 inches of arm side fade at 73-75 mph. That arm strength also transferred over to the field where he fired a 87 mph bullet across the diamond to lead his peers.

+ INF/C Gabe Garcia (Timberland, 2027) was consistently on the barrel throughout his round of BP in Friday’s look, posting the top exit velocity of the day with a 96.7 mph mark. The physical, 6-foot, 220-pound sophomore swung with intent throughout his round, using a quick, level swing to line balls to all fields, averaging 86.7 mph per batted ball. Garcia should see more to come as he adds polish to his game.

+ Putting together one of the most complete performances of the day, INF/OF/C Jesse Wilmes (Troy Buchanan, 2025) continues to see an uptick in his metrics across the board. Wilmes swings a strong right-handed barrel with above average hand speed that naturally elevates balls to the pullside of the field. The uncommitted senior averaged 81.9 mph per batted ball, barreling his best ball up at 96.4 mph. Defensively, Wilmes showed off his versatility, posting a 82 mph outfield velocity to go alongside 1.97-2.10 pop times from behind the plate and reliable actions on the infield. 

+ Packed with strength in a 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame, CIF Brady Kilker (St. Charles West, 2025) put together an impressive round of BP from the left side of the plate in this look. Kilker swung with intent to do damage, using a strong left-handed barrel with above average bat speed to send balls and event-leading 345 feet at a peak exit velocity 95.2 mph. The senior also averaged 88.2 mph per batted ball which led all players at the event.

+ In his Prep Baseball debut on Friday, RHP Keegan Lehmkuhl (Warrenton, 2028) emerged as an underclassman to follow from this event. The freshman consistently pitched in the upper-70s to low 80s on the mound, using a loose, whippy arm action to run his fastball up to 82.1 mph - good for second best on the day. Lehmkuhl also spun a 2,400+ RPM curveball that played well off of his fastball at 61-64 mph and commanded the zone with a low spin changeup at 66-68 mph.
