2021s On The Rise
September 4, 2019
With rankings being updated, The Hotlist has been highlighting risers in each class. Next up are the 2021s.
David Calabrese, OF, St. Elizabeth’s Catholic HS, ON
Calabrese put up impressive numbers at the workout at the Future Games, including plus speed with a 6.56-second 60-yard dash. He has the tools to hit at the top of the order and stick in center field. He has a short, left-handed swing with bat-to-ball skills and current gap power. He uses the whole field and his speed puts pressure on the defense.
Reed Gannon, LHP, Minooka HS, IL
Gannon was one of the hotter names in the state all summer long and put an exclamation point on it at the Future Games. A 6-foot-3, 170-pound, high-waisted and projectable southpaw, he worked two perfect innings, striking out three at the event. Gannon has a clean, easy arm and pounded the bottom of the strike zone with his fastball that sat 85-87 mph. The uncommitted junior also has a true starter profile, showing feel for two different breaking balls and a changeup.
