17U Championship Roundup:

Semi Final Game 1

Millhouse Missouri 4 Slammers Zavaras 3
In Semi Final Game #1 we saw a match up of two 4-0 teams that had cruised at times to this point in the tournament.  This game lived up to the PBR staff expectations with Millhouse scoring 1 run in the top of the 7th to pull out the victory.  Both teams traded scoreless innings to start out the game as Logan Carlisle 2021 who went 5 innings and was consistently 82-84 mph for Slammers and Tommy Meyers who went 3.2 innings and was 72-74 mph, but added a very effective 65-67 mph knuckle ball for Millhouse kept both teams in check.  Ryan Gunning 2021 gave Slammers the lead in the bottom of the third with a 2 run home run, but Millhouse answered with 2 of their own in the top of the fourth.  Gunning tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with his third RBI coming on a single off Meyers.  At that point, Millhouse turned to Josh Kilpatrick 2020 6-3 LHP with an over the top arm slot and good extension out front, to finish the game out on the mound.  Kilpatrick held Slammers in check for the final 3.1 innings sitting 77-79 and adding a 65-66 curve with tight spin and late break.  He finished the game with 4 K’s.  Millhouse scored their final run in the 7th on what turned out to be Slammers 6th error of the game.  Millhouse advanced to the championship game to face the winner of CBA and Khaos Chargers.

Semi Final Game 2

Colorado Baseball Academy 5 Khaos Chargers 4
In yet another tight semi final game, Colorado Baseball Academy scored 2 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th to take the victory.  Rod Gregg 2019 was on the mound for CBA and was cruising through 3 innings.  The 6-3 lefty featured a 78-80 mph fastball with good command and location.  Arm slot varied from over the top to high ¾ and he sped up his motion at times to keep the hitters off balance.  CBA was the first to get on the board thanks to a 2 RBI double by Josh Velasco 2019 catcher.  Jared Olson 2020 was on the mound for Khaos Chargers, he showed a live arm in this game, long and loose from a high ¾ arm slot.  Fastball sat 77-79 and he touched 80 a few times.  Good location in and out.  Curve had 11/5 break with tight spin.  Olson also gave Khaos the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning belting a 3 run home run to left field.  CBA quickly responded with 3 runs over the final two innings to claim the victory and move on to face Millhouse in the championship game.  Jacob Roybal 2020 for Khoas Chargers also get a mention for his 3-4 day at the plate.

Championship Game

Millhouse 8 Colorado Baseball Academy 0
Millhouse completes a perfect trip from Missouri ending the tournament 6-0 and with a run rule victory over CBA.  This is a team that is fundamentally sound both on defense and offense.  Dash Goldston took the mound for Millhouse throwing 80% fastballs but locating well the entire game.  Fastball was 76-78 and touched 79 a few times.  Location was the key, hitting spots both in and out.  He did sprinkle in a 65-66 curve with 11/5 movement and down in the zone.  Goldston allowed only two hits in his championship outing.  Millhouse used 7 hits to score 8 runs and saw Josh Kilpatrick 2020 and Johnny George 2020 each have a multi hit game.  Trent Flake 2020 provided one big swing with a 2 run blast to center field in the bottom of the third inning, which began to put the game away.  Millhouse closed out the game in the bottom of the 5th scoring 4 to reach the run rule and to claim the 17U Centennial State Games Championship.
