11.8 Unsigned Senior Showcase: Infield Analysis

On November 8, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the Unsigned Senior Showcase at Center STL in Saint Louis, MO. Twenty-two uncommitted players from the class 2015 class participated in the event.
Today we will break down the infielders. Ten players participated in the infield evaluations, with many taking part in other defensive fielding evaluations as well. This is just look at the infield performances. We have already broken down the outfielders, catchers and pitchers.

Infield Prospects
Nathan Bock, 3B, Fort Zumwalt West, 2015
Bock is an athletic 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting 3B. At the plate, starts in athletic position, lands square, aggressive load, fast bat speed, pull approach, 85 mph exit velo, gets down the line in 4.52-seconds, runs a 7.50 60. On the infield, over-the-top release, top infield velo at 83 mph, soft hands, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.
Cole Englert, 1B, Sullivan, 2015
Englert is a 6-foot-2 210-pound right-hdnded hitting 1B/3B. Posted positional velo of 71 mph at 3B and 68 mph at 1B, over-the-top release, clean exchange, soft hands, fluid footwork, accurate throws. At the plate, balanced set up, minimal load, short stride, level bat path, gap-to-gap approach, runs 4.94 home-to-first, 80 mph exit velo, 8.43 60.
Jono Lazaroff, 3B, Marquette, 2015
Lazaroff is a 5-foot-8 180-pound right-handed hitting 3B. Runs a 7.81 60, 4.53 home-to-first, balanced stance, short stride, smooth load, line-drive approach to pull side, 80 mph exit velo. Defensively, high three-quarters release, quick exchange, long/loose arm action, fluid footwork, 79 mph positional velo, somewhat accurate throws.
Christiano Leonardi, 2B/MIF, Joplin, 2015
Leonardi is a 5-foot-8 165-pound right-handed hitting 2B/MIF. Wide base, athletic set up, no wasted movement in load, lands square, quick bat speed, level to extension, 84 mph exit velo, line-drive approach gap-to-gap, pull power, repeatable swing mechanics, 4.34 home-to-first, 7.19 60. Defensively, fluid footwork, good fielding position, soft hands, quick transfer, short release, plays through the ball, accurate throws at 81 mph across infield, one of the top INF velos of the event.
Jonathan Maturino, 2B/MIF, Joplin, 2015
Maturino is a 5-foot-8 160-pound right-handed hitting 2B/MIF. Runs a 7.16 60, gets down the line in 4.34-seconds, open stance with high hands, strong lower half, fluid rhythm, fast bat speed, middle-to-pull approach, 84 mph exit velo. Defensively, over-the-top release, fluid feet, good fielding position, clean transfer, 73 mph positional velo.
Nic Mertes, 2B, Blue Springs South, 2015
Mertes a 5-foot-10 180-pound left-handed hitting 2B. At the plate, athletic set up, no wasted movement in load, smooth, fast bat speed with level path, strong lower half, works inside the ball with middle-oppo approach, pull power, posted one of the top exit velos of the event at 85 mph, runs a 4.66 home-to-first and 7.91 60. On the infield, high three-quarters release, fluid footwork, clean transfer, plays through the ball, mostly accurate throws at 78 mph.
Jacob Muehlenbrock, 2B/MIF, Francis Howell Central, 2015
Muehlenbrock a strong 5-foot-11 185-pound left-handed hitting 2B/MIF. At the plate, starts slightly open, lands square, fluid rhythm, slightly uphill path, power to pull gap, strong lower half, balanced throughout swing, runs 4.43-second home-to-first, 7.22 60, 79 mph exit velo. On the infield, three-quarters release, 73 mph positional velo, mostly accurate throws, soft hands, fluid transfer.
Benjamin Nobs, 2B/MIF, CBC, 2015
Nobs is strong 5-foot-10 180-pound switch-hitting 2B/MIF. On the right side, crouched set up, toe-touch for timing, loads lower half, fast bat speed, pull power, fluid rhythm, level to contact, high finish, 88 mph exit velo, 4.53 home-to-first. On left side, athletic set up, fluid and controlled rhythm, balanced throughout swing, level bat path, gap-to-gap approach in batting practice, 75 mph exit velo, 4.40 home-to-first, 7.10 60. On the infield, quick feet, short over-the-top release, plays through the ball, accurate throws, 80 mph positional velo, one of the best of the event.
Zach Ralph, 2B/MIF, Parkview, 2015
Ralph is a 5-foot-10 170-pound right-handed hitting 2B/MIF. 71 mph exit velo, open stance, lands square, minimal load, slight leg kick, level bat path, middle-to-pull approach, balanced throughout swing, runs 4.44 home-to-first, 7.15 60. Defensively, high three-quarters release, attacks ball, quick feet, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws, 68 mph positional velo.
Brian Taylor, SS, Raytown, 2015
Taylor is a well-built 5-foot-9 170-pound right handed hitting SS. With the bat, 78 mph exit velo, athletic stance, smooth load, short stride, quick hands, line drive approach, middle-to-pull, 4.47 home-to-first, 7.41 60. In the field, Over-the-top release, quick feet, fluid exchange, long arm swing, plays through the ball, mostly accurate throws, 72 mph positional velo.
