1.20.14 St. Louis Underclass: Infield Analysis

On Monday, January 20 at River's Edge Sports Complex PBR Missouri hosted the St. Louis Underclass Showcase. We have listed the evaluations for the infielders in the showcase. Keep in mind this is just for infield. We will have our analysis for the pitchers and catchers in the near future.
Chris Cornelius (St. John Vianney, 2016)
1/20/14 – is an solid, athletic 6-foot 170-pound right hand hitting SS/2B. He posted on of the top infield velos of the event at 80 MPH and had very accurate throws. He throws with an over-the-top arm action, which produces carry on the ball. Cornelius has a quick, clean exchange and the ability to play through the ball. At the plate, he has a simple load with minimal hand movement. He has a level swing that has power potential to both gaps. He notched an exit velo of 78 MPH and ran a 7.19 60, one of the top times in the event.
Matt Miller (Oakville, 2016)
1/20/14 – Miller is an athletic-framed 5-foot-10 165-pound SS/2B and was one of the top athletes in the event. He throws with an over-the-top arm action and has a quick, fluid exchange. He recorded one of the top infield positional velos at 81 MPH, making mostly accurate throws. He displayed soft hands, quick feet and the ability to play through the ball. Miller ran a 7.10 60. At the plate, Miller creates bat speed with a simple load. He has a short swing that produces gap-to-gap line drives with power potential. His exit velo was recorded at 78 MPH.
Kaleb Schmidt (Kickapoo, 2016)
1/20/14 – Schmidt is an athletic 5-foot-10 150-pound right hand hitting 2B/3B. He posted one of the best positional velos of the event at 82 MPH. He has a clean, quick transfer that produces accurate throws across the diamond. He throws from over-the-top with his arm action and has the ability to work through ball. At the plate, Schmidt has a gap-to-gap approach and a level bat path that produces consistent line drives. He has an athletic stance and good balance throughout the swing. His exit velo was 79 MPH and he runs a 7.61 60.
Trey McDaniel (Greenville, 2017)
1/20/14 – Trey McDaniel is an athletic-framed 5-foot-10 168-pound right hand hitting SS. He throws with a ¾ arm slot and made mostly accurate throws. He has a fluid, clean exchange and has threw 78 MPH across the infield. McDaniel has mostly a pull approach because of a slightly stiff front arm. He has a balanced stance and produces good bat speed. He has a 77 MPH exit velo and ran a 7.46 60.
Jack Kane (Timberland, 2016)
1/20/14 – Kane is a solid 5-foot-11 185-pound right hand hitting 3B. He recorded one of the top infield velos of the event at 79 MPH with great accuracy on this throws. He showed soft hands and throws from over-the-top. At the plate, he has a line drive approach to the opposite gap. He has minimal hand load and good bat speed. He showed good balance throughout his swing and had an exit velo of 81 MPH. Kane ran a 8.0 60.
Alex Hackworth (Parkway South, 2016)
1/20/14 – Hackworth is a thin, athletic-framed 5-foot-9 140-pound 2B. He displayed quick feet and a fluid exchange. He throws with an over-the-top arm action and showed the ability to play through the ball. Hackworth had a positional velo of 78 MPH. Offensively, he has a gap-to-gap approach and is slightly uphill. He has a short stride and good balance in his swing. Hackworth has an exit velo of 71 MPH and a 7.56 60 time.
Weston Baker (SLUH, 2017)
1/20/14 – Baker is a stong, athletic 6-foot-2 190-pound right hand hitting 3B. He has a clean, fluid exchange making mostly accurate throws across the diamond. Baker throws with an over-the-top arm action and has a positional velo of 78 MPH. At the plate, he has a line drive, gap-to-gap approach. Baker has an athletic, balanced stance with a short stride. He had an exit velo of 81 MPH and runs an 8.05 60.

1/20/14 – Alender is a good target at 1B at 6-foot-4 182-pounds. He throws from a ¾ arm slot and makes accurate throws. Alender has a quick, clean exchange with good footwork that allows him to have good range. He has a positional velo of 75 MPH. Offensively, Alender has a gap-to-gap approach. He has a level bat path that produces consistent line drives with power potential. He has good balance and rhythm throughout his swing. Alender has an exit velo of 70 and runs a 7.69 60.
Cameron Beck (Festus, 2017)
1/20/14 – Beck is a thin, athletic-framed 5-foot-11 145-pound SS/2B. Beck had a positional velo of 75 and displayed a clean, fluid exchange on the infield. He ran a 7.25 60 and had an exit velo of 71 MPH. At the plate, he starts from a balanced stance and has a has an oppo approach.
Billy Heil (Clayton, 2016)
1/20/14 – Heil is a 5-foot-9 210-pound left hand hitting 1B. He throws with a ¾ arm slot and puts his throws on target. He has a fluid exchange with a positional velo of 65 MPH. Offensively, Heil works from a balanced stance and has a pull approach. He has a 72 MPH exit velo and runs a 9.2 60.
Stephen Krebs (St. Louis Priory, 2016)
1/20/14 – Krebs is a 6-foot-1 209-pound right hand hitting 1B. He had a positional velo of 75 MPH and was accurate with his throws. He displayed soft hands with a fluid, clean exchange. At the plate, he has a line drive pull approach with minimal load. Krebs starts in an athletic stance and stays balanced throughout his swing. He has an exit velo of 72 MPH and ran a 7.2 60.
Patrick Maus (St.John Vianney, 2017)
1/20/14- is a 6-foot 185-pound 3B. Maus throws with a ¾ arm slot making mostly accurate throws. His top recorded position velo was 75 MPH. At the plate, Maus starts in a balanced stance and has minimal hand load. He has a short swing that produces opposite field line drives. He recorded an exit velocity of 75 MPH and ran a 8.3 60.
Austin Sims (Rockwood Summit, 2016)
1/20/14 – Sims is an athletic-framed 5-foot-6 169-pound right handed hitting SS. He throws with a ¾ arm slot and has a quick, clean transfer. He playes through the ball and makes mostly accurate throws across the diamond. His positional velo was 76 and he runs a 7.56 60. Offensively, Sims has a level bat path that produces line drives to both gaps. He has a balanced stance and short stride that accelerates his swing. He has a an exit velo of 75 MPH.
Truman Stephens (SLUH, 2016)
1/20/14 – Stephens is a 6-foot-1 207-pound left hand hitting 1B. Stephens displayed a quick, clean exchange 1B. He had soft hands and made accurate throws to the bag. His positional velo was 68 MPH. Offensively, he showed a balanced swing with the potential for pull power. Stephens produced good bat speed and was slightly uphill. He registered 80 MPH on exit velo and ran a 8.10 60.
