Scouting Report

7/11/18- 6-foot, 175-pound lefthanded hitting two-way player.  7.02 runner.  Stacked set-up.  Leg lift with a rock to load and high back elbow.  Good frame that shows bat speed. Line drive and fly ball swing plane. Mid/pull approach with pop in bat.  88 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average hands in field.  Fields ball out in front.  Tends to stab with a stiff wrist.  Solid carry and accuracy to bag with 84 mph arm strength.  Could grow into a corner guy. 

3/17/18- 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; short rocker step, hand rhythm to upright balance point, compact arm action, clean out front. Fastball was 83-84 mph, varying late action, and jumps through zone well. On side of breaking ball creating slower break and inconsistent 11/5 shape. Slight sink with arm-side run on changeup for strikes. 7.01 runner. Square stance, larger movements in load and stride, effects timing, shows clean bat path through zone, pull approach, has solid bat speed, with flashes of hard contact, 84 mph exit velocity. Works around and through baseball, creates direction to throw, sure hands, high fielding position, solid overall actions, accurate to bag on throws, 81 mph arm across infield.




PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Carden: Multiple Division 1, a few Division 2, and many Division 3 schools have expressed interest. 

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

Carden: I took an official visit to Holy Cross out in Massachusetts this past year and plan to take more in the upcoming months. 

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Carden: I want a school that has high academic standards, and also has a variety of options in their studies.

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your sophomore year?

Carden: The highlights of my sophomore year were being named Team MVP and being named All-Conference. The highlights of my Junior year was being named a captain and also making it to the State Championship with my team. 

PBR: What are your goals for this year?

Carden: My main goal for this year is to make it back to the State Championship and to win it this time. I also want to make the all-metro and all-state team this season along with finding a place to play college baseball. 

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Carden: I also play basketball and am a captain for the upcoming season, and I used to play football prior to this year.

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?

Carden: ACT: 31 GPA: 3.91
