Scouting Report
Positional Profile: RHP Follow on mound in 2021 class.
Body: 6-4, 215-pounds. Physical, projectable frame.
Delivery: Smooth, repeatable delivery. Good front side.
Arm Action: RH. Clean 3/4 arm action.
FB: T86, 83-86 mph. Varying action w/ slight run.
CB: 69-74 mph. 11/5 break. Avg spin w/ occasional late break.
CH: 77-80 mph. Slight fade action down in the strike zone.
6-foot-4, 215-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 2018 Future Games Participant. Big frame. 7.10 runner. Slightly open balanced stance. Body and hand load back. Strides to square. Flashes bat speed. Gap to Gap approach with mainly line drive contact. Average barrel contact and flashed pull pop with 89 mph exit velocity. IF- Moves laterally with average feet. Average glove with some stiffness at times. 82 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy. On mound- Big presence with projectable frame. Rocker step into slower tempo through delivery. Good front side. Throws from a ¾ arm slot with clean arm action. Fastball is 87-89 mph with run action. Curveball has 11/5 break with average spin thrown at 70-71 mph. Strong follow on mound in 2021 class.
6-foot-4, 205-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. On mound; controlled rocker step into athletic balance point, uses front side well, clean compact arm action, lands inline to plate. Fastball was 85-86 mph with varying action to plate. 12/6 breaking ball has solid shape and spin with flashes of late break. Has feel for bottom of zone with changeup. Above avg. command of three pitch mix with easy effort to consistently throw strikes. 7.34 runner. Tall stance, double tap trigger, inconsistent timing, rolls hands over early through contact, line drive approach, when on time shows harder contact to middle of field, 86 mph exit velocity. Works down to up, softer hands, works through ball, above avg. arm for position, 79 mph arm across infield.
2018 PBR Future Games- Zurn got stronger as his outing went, starting with a FB 83-84 that was sitting 85-86 by the end of the inning. The FB is slightly heavy and when coupled with a BB at 66-69 with 11-5 break. The CH at 75 showed slight arm side run.
7/11/18- 6-foot-4, 215-pound right-handed hitting two-way player. 7.27 runner. Big body and good size. Narrow stance with a toe tap load. Pull swing that flashes hard line drive contact. Cuts swing off to finish. Good swing plane but works around baseball. 83 mph exit velocity. IF- Average feet and hands. Moves ok around bag. 85 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy to bag. On mound- Projectable frame. Good balance and direction through delivery. Varying action on 85-87 mph fastball. Curveball at 70-72 mph is tight with good 11/5 shape. Slight run and fade on change-up. Follow on mound in 2021 class.
