Super 60 Spotlight: Will Rogers

On Sunday, Feb. 7, Prep Baseball Report will host the 19th edition of its prestigious, flagship event: the Super 60 Pro Showcase. Since the event’s inception in 2003, more than 300 players have been selected in the MLB Draft, including 22 first-round picks and 25 second-rounders.
We started our our march toward the Super 60 earlier this month, by highlighting the prospects set to join us, shining a light on their impressive player profiles that they've groomed through their high school years and beyond.

Scouting Report
In addition to his catch/throw/hit talents and big bat speed at the plate, Rogers was up to 92 mph on the bump, showing off his impressive arm strength in one inning of relief. After impressing all summer long on the prep circuit, the Arizona State is likely to be considered for the top three rounds for the 2021 draft.
Present strength. Elite skills as a catcher blocking and receiving. Not afraid to use his arm and back picked a runner off second base. A controlled powerful line-drive swing. On the mound he mixed timing and looks. He is a strike thrower and a quick short arm action. Rogers’ fastball sat 84-85 and topped at 87mph. He threw a 74-75mph sinking change up. Arizona State commit.
Arizona State commit with good present strength at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds. Sound defensive package. Athletic feet. Strong hands. Average arm strength (81 mph). One knee setup with clean exchange and good carry. Accurate throws with 1.97-2.00 pop times. Ran a 7.04 sixty. Loose arm swing and athletic stride. Open stance. Controlled stride. Good weight transfer with a balanced approach. Hits against firm front side. Gets on-plane well. Strong attack angle of 11 degrees. Average bat speed with good bat strength produced consistent hard contact; 101.5 max exit velocity during BP with furthest distance at 375’. Blast metric of a next-level rotational acceleration average of 19.2 g. Has necessary tools/skills to become a better than average defender behind the plate with plus power potential in the batter’s box.

Defense: 1.86-1.94 pop times. Starts from one knee. Clean exchange and feet. Athletic. Good glove and works low to high. Good movements to block and keeps ball in front.
Run: 7.25 runner in the 60.

21 Great Lakes C Will Rogers ranked #381 overall in the PBR 2021 Rankings hit 3rd and started behind the plate. Strong athletic frame that had a nice game defensively. Moves well to block and shows strength in glove when receiving. A flat swing plane with some bat speed and has pop potential at the plate.
6-foot, 190-pound two-way player athletic build. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, athletic hitter, gap to gap approach, hard middle of the field contact. Showed above average pop with a home run to dead center. Closed out the game on the mound touching 87 mph, sitting 82-84 with deceptive delivery, fastball finished through the zone. Curveball played 66-67 11/5 shape and flashed a harder breaking ball at 72 mph that acted more slider. Later in the tournament against Windy City (Herbert), went 2-for-3 with a pull side double that rolled into the left field corner and an RBI single flared into centerfield.
