Evaluation: 5-foot-9, 175-pound switch-hitting middle infielder. Athletic player who ran a 6.94 60 at the event. Shows plus range in field with ability to get to a lot of balls other players can’t. Has quickness to game and glove is solid in the middle infield. Has accuracy with above average arm strength- 85 mph. Has rhythm in swing from both sides and flashes ability to drive ball to gaps. 87 mph exit velocity off tee.

PBR: Why did you choose Creighton University?
COLLINS: I chose Creighton because they are a top division one baseball program, a great academic institution, they have a great coaching staff who was very interested in me as a baseball player but also as a person. The head coach has been there for several years and also coaches the infielders. Creighton is known for their defensive play and their infielders and have had 4 gold glove winners who are all infielders. Their facilities are one of the best in the nation and their home stadium is the best in the country. They gave me a big scholarship, and I just feel like I can see myself going to school and playing baseball there for the next part of my life.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
COLLINS: I was also looking into Notre Dame and Florida Atlantic University.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
COLLINS: They first saw me play this summer in Atlanta at the WWBA 17u tournament. They called me after the game and told me they were very interested in me as a player. They gave me an offer and wanted me to come on a visit once I got home. Coach Wallace was the one who recruited me and I talked to him frequently on the phone. He's a really nice guy and we formed a relationship right away.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
COLLINS: I am very relieved to know where I'll be playing baseball next year. I can just focus on getting better as a player and helping my team win a state championship.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
COLLINS: The scholarship money and also my visit because I got to hang out with the players on the team and ask them how they like Creighton.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
COLLINS: Definitely my parents. They have been so supportive through this whole process and have done so much for me. I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for me.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it /difficult?
COLLINS: I wasn't exactly sure how it would work. It turned out to be more stressful than what I thought it would be, but it ended up alright and I'm glad I found a place I know where I'll be successful and have a fun time.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
COLLINS: They are planning on losing both their shortstop and second basemen after this year. They want me to come in and have a role on the team as a freshman. There are obviously no guarantees but they expect a lot out of me right when I come in.
