The PBR MN Unsigned Senior Showcase took place on Sunday, August 18, 2019. The event was held at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. The event featured uncommitted prospects from the 2020 grad class; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance.

Lucas Athey, C, Mora, 2020
6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.51 runner.  Slightly closed balanced stance.  Leg lift trigger and small hand load.  Arm bar at times creating length to contact.  Longer swing plane.  Aggressive swing.  Gap to gap approach with line drive contact.  Consistent contact with average barrel.  79 mph exit velocity.  C- Taller stance.  Inconsistent glove when receiving.  Slower to block.  2.08-2.35 pop times.  Average footwork and exchange.  67 mph arm strength with average accuracy and fade carry.

Ty Gage, C, Eagan, 2020
6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.50 runner.  Balanced squared stance.  Toe tap and hand load back.  Good size and present strength.  Lower half gets through swing well.  Some lift to swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average contact with 78 mph exit velocity.  C- Squared and balanced stance.  Glove works low to high and shows ability to hold pitches.  2.06-2.14 pop times.  Clean and quick exchange.  Stands up to release.  Good accuracy and average carry to bag.  72 mph arm strength.

Soren Grant, C/1B, Patrick Henry, 2020
5-foot-11, 220-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.81 runner.  Balanced upright stance.  Bod load with small hand load.  Aggressive swing.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average contact and flashes pop in barrel.  898 mph exit velocity.  C- Well balanced and stays square.  Glove works middle of body and can be stiff.  Can be slow to block at times.  Average exchange and long footwork to release.  2.15-2.40 pop times.  Fade carry with average accuracy and 74 mph arm strength.  IF- Average feet.  Glove is stiff and makes routine play.  Short arm action.  70 mph arm strength with fade carry with average accuracy.

Cade Marquardt, C, Litchfield, 2020
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.37 runner.  Open stance with lower handset.  Strides to square and hand load back.  Arm bars at times.  Small uphill swing plane.  Gap to gap approach with line drive contact.  Average contact with 72 mph exit velocity.  C- Narrow stance that can be off-balance.  Glove works high to low.  Ball can control glove at times.  Average exchange and feet on throws.  2.20-2.50 pop times.  Fade carry and average accuracy with 71 mph arm strength. 

Logan Milene, C/OF, Rochester Century, 2020

Matthew Sauer, C/3B, Benilde St. Margaret’s, 2020
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.63 runner.  Slightly open upright stance.  Knee to knee and long hand load.  Slightly uphill swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Average contact with 70 mph exit velocity.  C- Athletic stance.  Glove works low to high.  Stays square and show ability to hold pitches.  Average movements to block.  Average exchange with longer foot work.  Short arm action.  2.13-2.25 pop times.  72 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  IF- Average feet and glove.  Makes routine play.  Glove can come out late.  76 mph arm strength with good carry and average accuracy. 

Jack Scott, C/OF, Bloomington Kennedy, 2020
5-foot-9, 145-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.16 runner.  Open stance with high handset.  Leg lift and strides to square.  Some stiffness through swing.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Inconsistent contact with 76 mph exit velocity.  C- Narrow stance.  Glove works from middle of body.  Ball can control glove.  Average to block.  Longer exchange and footwork on throws.  2.26-2.42 pop times.  69 mph arm strength with fade carry and average accuracy.  OF- Slow feet and long to release.  Glove is stiff.  Short arm action.  Fade carry with below average accuracy and 75 mph arm strength. 

Sam Shopbell, C/RHP, Prior Lake, 2020
6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  7.42 runner.  Balanced athletic stance.  Compress body and hand load.  Small stride to start.  Average swing plane.  Middle approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Average contact and barrel.  79 mph exit velocity.  C- One knee stance with good balance.  Average glove and works well side to side.  Good to block and stays square.  Average exchange and shorter foot work on throws.  2.01-2.20 pop times.  Average carry and accuracy with 76 mph arm strength.  On mound- Athletic frame.  Long rocker step into balance position.  Slower tempo.  Good balance through delivery.  Shorter stride and stays tall through release.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot with short arm action and clean out front.  Fastball has varying action at 79-80 mph topping at 81 mph.  Curveball is for strikes with 11/5 break and average spin and shape thrown at 70-71 mph.  Change-up has average fade action at 72-74 mph.   

Timothy Stewart, C, Burnsville, 2020

Nolan Summerfield, C, Centennial, 2020

John Volkers, C, Maple Grove, 2020
